Maybe for a wrong reason, but you are actually on to something. It was prophesied that in the last days there would be a great falling away in the church. There would be false prophets and teachers that would arise, and men would become lovers of themselves, selfish, blending in with the world rather than being a light to a world without god.
Jesus did not establish a church to end up this way. He established it to bring love, forgiveness and hope to a world, because he knew that men's hearts would have to be changed first before they could merit a physical kindgom of God on earth. This meant that the kingdom of God would first have to become alive in men's hearts and spirits before there could be a physical manifestation of peace on earth. In the last days, which is now, therefore, when people have gone away from the original teachings, God is planning a "prunning of the tree." He will remove all false doctrine and false attitudes, so Jesus can return to a bride "without spot or blemish." Jesus has to return to a pure church, not one tainted with sin or hypocrisy. This means the official church as you know it will undergo affliction and tribulation, which is independent from the one propesied in the Book of Revelation, although there may be an overlap in time. It will undergo attacks, and only the more pure of heart will respond properly.
The world attacks the church now for one of two reasons: 1. it hates God, or 2. there is a sense of extreme disappointment in the church because it has failed people in their legitimate spiritual needs., ie it has "let the world down."
I can already see the rejection here in YA. This will continue and become worse, with persecutions, until the new pure bride of Christ rises out of the flames.
May God bless you Jibba Jabba. and Merry CHristmas.

I thought Atheism was the new fad, it seems popular among the teenagers nowadays, it seems they're rebelling from whichever religion ma and pa crammed into their heads (Christianity most of the time)
Then there's that whole flying noodle monster thing, people going around saying "ramen!" sounds like a fad to me.

It's funny how people keep repeating stuff like that through the ages. Nero said that, Nietshe said that and now you. Eternity is not a fad.
