But I'm afraid of rejection. What can I do? I'm friends with him, but we've never been anywhere outside of the college I attend.

You should ask him. The fear of rejection is one of the most debilitating fears I have ever experienced. The thing is...the worst that can happen is he says no. At least then you'll know whether it could spark into something more. Perhaps he's wanted to ask you out, but he's too afraid of rejection too. You'll never know unless you try.

Well, I can officially tell you that I've been in the same situation with a girl that I liked. Trust me on this, just ask him. Seriously, the possibility of rejection follows you wherever you go, but you really shouldn't let the possibility stop you from getting what you really want. Don't wait too long, either, trust me on that one.

Decades of sexual equality and social progress have achieved only so much. Is a woman being unacceptably forward if she asks a man to buy her a drink? Is a man violating some rule if he expects a woman to buy him a drink? Who cares? Just have fun, don't be a jerk, and you'll be OK.

Instructions
•STEP 1: Experiment. Walk up to him and say, "How about buying me a drink?" You know you'll at least get a reaction, so be ready with some light conversation.
•STEP 2: Don't be obnoxious. Your goal is not to get free alcohol, but to be with him. Show of personality or humor should be enough to move things along.
•STEP 3: Employ the obvious backup position, if necessary: Offer to buy him a drink.
•STEP 4: Don't push too hard. Be lighthearted and casual.

What To Look For
•Lighthearted conversation

Overall Tips & Warnings
•Don't worry about looking like an idiot. Everyone looks like one sometimes.
•If you get a nasty reaction from someone, it probably says more about his attitude than your technique.

Ask first to get together for something college related.
And if he tells you a problem, ask to have coffee over and discuss it.
Or you can just ask coffee and take a chance.
you never know and don't end up regretting it.

Well as I see it asking for coffee is not alot, If i were you i would just talk about school days like "snow days." From there just talk about general stuff like that and end up asking what he is doing on whatever day it is.
You are already friends, and if you do not want him to know dont act so giddy, just ask him regularly it will come natural.

It's all in the approach. You're a woman! You know how to work this. Set your mind to success mode before you leave the house, and then use that subtle charm you know you have to have him right where you want him. I have had my share of special female "friends" before. I know he has to be attracted to you at least a little (probably a lot!) That is usually the secret basis for the continuance of the friendship for us guys.

If you don't ask him for coffee, you will definately wonder if he would have said yes or no. I say take the chance. Most things that are worthwhile in life involve risks. Good luck!

the worst he can do is say no and you move on.
to make it more casual if you share a class or two suggest meeting over coffee to discuss the work and go from there.
