i don't know......i hate to think about it, but I probably wouldn't because it would be like I was trying to replace to first.......so no I wouldn't.
Did ur dog just die? I'm so sorry.
:( *cries*
I would get a different dog so it wouldn't bring back memories, a totally different dog so u could experience what different breeds are like.

But don't just try and forget your dog that died, focuss on the positive, think of what a beautiful dog it was and the happiness it brought u. Think of what a good life it had, and not of it being gone and never coming back.
I'm Sorry......
Good Luck,
Alison

If you absolutely love the breed that your dog was and want a dog of that breed, then yes, you should get the same breed. Unless the breed is only one color like the Rottweiller tho, or say a Maltese, I would get the same breed but a different color. So sorry about the dog you lost. I hope the new dog will help heal your broken heart.

I would get the same breed of dog, mostly because I have had this breed in my life for 30 years.

You can not "replace" a lost pet but many times I think getting another fairly soon after helps ease the pain.

We recently lost one of our dogs to cancer. About 2 weeks later we purchased a puppy to be a companion for my dog and for my husband to train and show.

I used to have a lab that I had since I was four. She died last year. I thought later about getting another but since I work at a vet I have noticed that everytime a lab comes in i always seem to compare it to my dog and I was afraid that if I got another one that I would do that to my dog. I knew that that dog would never live up my expectations because I would always compare it to my last dog. I have always love siberian huskies so i figured it was time to experiance new breeds and there personalities. I now have two. I would like to have another lab someday but it probablly won't be for a while when I am older. I have really grown to love huskies at that breed is probablly all I will own for a long time, they are great dogs and I love there personalities. I will always have a soft spot for labs though.

I am sorry to here about your loss. When I lost my dog last year, I got another puppy of the same breed but of a different color. It didn't bring back a lot of sad memories, plus I didn't want people calling my new dog by my old dogs name (that would really bother me). I still really miss her, but my new dog helps fill the void.

No, because even though the new dog looked just like the old one, it would have its own unique personality, and would be confusing and stressful for me when it didn't respond the same way to me.

no, it would hurt too much to look at her and wouldn't be fair to the new dog. Get another breed who you can look at without memories and remember your old friend as he was.
