I have a question, lets say I talk about family problems like..."My dad is always yelling and blameing me." and "He thinks that my brother and mom are planning to drive him crazy." and stuff like that that will all be confidential right? between a counselor and student at a highschool?

Probably unless your counselor suspects some sort of abuse. If that is the case, they are required by law to report it to the authorities.

Any time you see a counselor, even a school counselor all information is supposed to be confidential. The only way the information could be shared is if the counselor thought there were some type of abuse (physical, emotional, verbal, etc...) or neglect going on, then by law they have to report it.

Well I remember I was at a time in my life where I needed to talk to someone about family issues. I ended up talking to the school counsellor about it. He promised that it was confidential and my parents wouldn't find out. Then, my next session.. Guess who is in the room with him? My parents! As if eh.. I was pretty mad. My parents then signed me up for therapy or whatever it was hoping it would fix "the problem".. What they didn't realise is that they WERE the problem and they weren't working in any way to change it! They just thought if they put me in therapy I would be fine.. Well. Im over all of that now but. That is my story for you.

Things between you and your counselor can be and will stay confidential UNLESS your counselor believes that you're in danger. It's his or her job to get you help if you're in an abusive situation.

any kind of counselor is a mandated reported, it means if you tell her that someone is hurting you or that you plan to hurt someone else she has to report it, otherwise it's confidential.
