Im sorry maybe I should have descibed the incident better. There was a small bruise that she got when she fell off of the last step at our house. The teacher took a picture of it and did not report it so it doesnt fall under investagation guidelines. The reason I found out about it was my daughter made a disclosure about sexual abuse , in regards to my brother 5 days after this picture was taken and she got the bruise before she came into contact with him so my question again is this wrong?

I don't know where you live. But what do you think about the teachers taking your children for medical care, abortions without your knowledge? Giving your kids condoms? The pendulum swings.

i don't think this is wrong. it seems to me that the teacher was looking out for her students safety. did she keep the photo in an incident report book? was she alone when she took the photo? she should have notified her superior. if this was in her file or too that would be different then just sitting in her desk drawer. also, what part of the butt is it? just a picture of her hip or butt cheek? or is it full pants down, basically naked. their is a huge difference.

i really want to know how she saw the bruise. in daycare the children often pee on themselves and need to change their clothes. modesty isn't a big thing in the early childhood classrooms. they will walk right out of the bathroom pants around their ankles. seeing a big suspicious bruise would cause questions to arise.

many early childhood teachers do a quick once over of the children in the morning to make sure everything is okay. we check for overall healthiness of the child - does the child look fatigued - circles under eyes, healthy color, etc. check for visible bumps and bruises that look suspicious. since the children are so young it is hard to rely on just what they are saying.

was your child complaining about the bruise on her butt or telling her about it? obviously she found out about it somehow. she probably wanted to protect herself as well. she wanted it documented that your daughter came into school with a bruise on her bottom, she did not get that bruise while she was under her care.

they questioned your daughter alone because they are trying to protect the children. children want to please their parents. if you are in the room she will look to you for guidance on what to say instead of just telling the truth. not only that but children do not participate or behave nearly as well when their parents are around. it is just like in school when a child who is so naughty at home gets to school and behaves like an angel. the parents cannot figure out why. :)

look at it this way....if you are not guilty of anything wrong then be happy so many people are looking out for your daughter. you should sleep better knowing that she has other adults in her life that care.

hope everything works out for the best. SD

I worked at a daycare and we NEVER took pictures of a childs private areas. If there was a bruise/rash/scrape...anything, we had reports where we would document exactly what it looked and so on, bring in the principal to see, and then everybody would sign it. What that teacher did was very wrong and I would suggest you go raise some...ya know...down at that school. Your poor daughter! I would take her to talk to somebody because it sounds like alot is going on. Good luck with everything.

(I take it you are referring to a naked butt...) If the photos were taken as part of an investigation (bruising, redness, wounds, etc.) your consent and knowledge were not legally required as in any investigation of this type, the parents are suspect until cleared. (I'm not saying this is the case and not saying you've injured or neglected your child.) if this is the case, she should have called the Police and had an Evidence Tech handle it, but some schools handle things differently.

If the photos were taken just for the sake of taking a photo, she has violated any number of school policies and perhaps several laws as well. Taking unclothed photos of a minor when the purpose is not investigative or documentary, can in some states, be considered child pornography.

I would like to know how the teacher knew there was a bruise on her butt in the first place. The teacher must have seen her butt somehow before taking the picture to know it was even there???hmmm yea that definately needs to be reported.

This does not sound good. I would talk to your daughter first hand and find out just what happened. Then go talk to the teacher in question and the school authorities about it. After that you might want to let them know that if anything like that comes up again you want to be there or at least be notified first.

it is more or less a Public Forum where you have zero expectation of Privacy so there would be no Invasiuon of Privacy you would not pull out your wang and Jerk off in class or perform any kind of Criminal act where your classmates could be called as witnesses which supports the lack of privacy as an employee of the school the teacher enjoys priveleges and if they can resort to simply taking pictures to motivate students to do better all the more power to them you don't like that scene do the work expected and get out of there ASAP the more you learn in school the less of a burden you will be to society in the future Grow Up Child

Wrong. Even if the teacher had the "best of intentions" she should have notified you. Most of all no teacher should be left alone with a half naked child, there are guidelines in schools to protect children, and I am certain she didn't follow them.

As a teacher that is completely wrong!! In this day and age you can barely hug a child let alone taking a picture of her bottom. Report the teacher. That is improper and unprofessional.

none of what you have mention can be done with out the consent of the childrens parents/guardian or a court order. this goes for both the picture taken and the interrogation. i recommend seeking legal counsel and ensuring that your child is protect from anymore illegal actions. it would also be wise to file charges again whoever conducted the interrogation along with the teach taking the picture.

As a teacher, I can not come up with one single reason when it would be appropriate to photograph a child's behind. If I ever take photos of my students for school, I have a signed permission slip from each parent. I urge you to take this to your child's principal, and remove your child from this classroom. this is one bad decision by this teacher that you know about. . how many more instances like this are there?
