Also, I have had great traveling success with an experienced travel specialist named "Candy". That's all I know her by is her first name only. You can reach her only during regular business hours like M-F 9-5 EST I think that's right and according to my notes her toll free number is 866-807-7386 ext.# 2037. She can council you to talk you out of it if she thinks it is not right for you or make wonderful suggestions to get you started if you really believe it fits your particular personal profile

Travel agents are having trouble making money from established offices.

I'd say to forget about being a traditional travel agent, and instead set yourself up to specialize in something you're familiar with - creating and booking tours to a certain area you know well, or they could be goal-oriented tours - for instance, a week to learn cooking in a certain region, or eating tours - sample the variety of food in a region.

I can't be more specific without knowing where you live and/or where you like to travel, but I think the above is the only way to make a living now. The old days of going through a travel agent to book a flight and pocketing the commission is gone. You'll have to make a niche that makes you stand out.

Good luck!
