anyone unless who professes Jesus as Lord.

We all believe in Jesus supreme Lordship, right? We just don't all go to the same "building" to worship. O.K., with that said...
Why then when we are talking of believers that attend diffrent churchs do we describe them as being of another "faith"? Hellooooo....Are we not all agreeing that Jesus is Lord? If we are Christian then we are Christian. Jewish is a diffrent "faith," Islam is a diffrent "faith," Pagan is a diffrent "faith."
We as Christians are suppose to be under ONE banner. JESUS.
We are Christians....

Your thoughts....

Shalom. Be Blessed and thank you for answering my question sincerely.

And His banner over us is L O V E

I personally think and believe in terms of Christian or not. There is but one true faith...that of the one true God and salvation thru His Son, Jesus.

The rest are "belief systems" of the false gods.

True we are not of a different faith but a different denomination. For 1500 years it was only Catholicism. After the Protestant Reformation led by Martin Luther Christianity became "watered down" from having 7 sacraments in Catholicism, Eastern, Greek, Ukrainian, and Russian Orthodox Churches to 3 sacraments in many Prostestant denominations.

Scripture says there is One faith, One Gospel, One God, One truth. Some so-called Christian denominations are not actually Christian any more because they reject the basic dogma of Christianity. JW's, for instance, and Mormons do not believe in the HOLY TRINITY which is an article of faith to be a true Christian. So, without abiding by the articles of faith such as the Holy Trinity the faith becomes a haven for apostates.

1 Kings 18:21 “How long will YOU be limping upon two different opinion?...

The name Christianity is built upon the name Christ, which is a title by which Jesus of Bethlehem-Judah was called. Hence Christianity means the imitating of Jesus Christ and the obeying of his teachings and commandments. Christ means Anointed One; the Jewish word “Messiah” means the same thing.

Philippians 2:5 Keep this mental attitude in YOU that was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although he was existing in God’s form, GAVE NO CONSIDERATION TO A SIEZURE; NAMELY; THAT HE SHOULD BE EQUAL TO GOD.....

Matthew 4:10 “It is Jehovah your God you must worship, and it is to him alone you must render sacred service.”

Matthew 28:19 “Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them.”

Matthew 7:13 “Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.”

As Christians, we follow these (few of many) commandments and examples of Jesus.

That's like believing all roads lead to New York and no matter which one you take you will get there eventually ,I don't think so ,your dealing with eternity and many roads lead to a dead end ,Jesus Christ is the only God who claimed to be man and different denominations denie this ,Catholics worship Mary ,JW denie the trinity ,Mormons have over a billion gods ,Islam believes in Allah and that Jesus was just a prophet ,Paganism believe we are one with the earth , So no I don't agree with what you wrote . Jesus said I Am the truth and broad is the road that leads to death and destruction ,Narrow is the Gate and few that find it , God bless you on your Journey and Hope The Lord will open the eyes of your Heart

As you can see , Motherbear, there is a lot of distrust, different beliefs, ideas, and even false understanding of the different denominations that all claim to be Christian. There are different forms of Judaism and Islam too, but there are hundreds of sects in Christianity.
Jesus himself predicted that many would claim to be his followers and yet he would disown them for their works at Matthew chap 7.: 21 - 23.
There's also many claiming here that if u don't believe in the trinity, then your not a true Christian. However, Jesus always claimed to be the son of God and the son of Man. He also gave the model prayer that says to sanctify the Father's name and to do his will. '
I'm a Jehovah's witness and we firmly believe in Christ as man's redeemer and King and high priest. We use the bible extensively and if i'm talking to someone, i'm happy to use their bible.
There's one other thing that Jesus said. He gave a commandment that all his diciples were to love one another. John 15; 12. So any who claim to be Christian and yet kill others in war or persecute them for different reasons are disobeying the One they claim to follow.

One way that I have gotten around this is to refer to all who profess a belief in God as "believers", that is, people who find value in a life of faith in one God. Christians are then distinguished from Jews and Muslims only in that they believe that Jesus is Messiah - historically, all three are linked to the same tradition.

Outside of the Judeo-Islamic-Christian tradition, it gets a little dicey because I'm not sure how to think of Hindu or Budhist or Shinto, or any of the other's cosmology. But, I honor their beliefs and traditions and respect their right to worship and practice as they wish.

"Faith" is just a synonym for "religion"; don't over-analyze it.

The bible most closely associates being "Christian" with preaching about Christ and Christ's teachings. Review all three times the bible uses the term "Christian" and note that the context connects the term with:
"declaring the good news"
'teaching quite a crowd'
'open eyes, turn from dark to light'
"uttering sayings of truth"
"persuade"
"keep on glorifying"

(Acts 11:20-26) [The early disciples of Jesus] began talking to the Greek-speaking people, declaring the good news of the Lord Jesus... and taught quite a crowd, and it was first in Antioch that the disciples were by divine providence called Christians.

(Acts 26:17-28) [Jesus said to Paul] I am sending you, to open their eyes, to turn them from darkness to light and from the authority of Satan to God... Paul said: “I am not going mad, Your Excellency Festus, but I am uttering sayings of truth and of soundness of mind. ...Do you, King Agrippa, believe the Prophets? I know you believe.” But Agrippa said to Paul: “In a short time you would persuade me to become a Christian.”

(1 Peter 4:14-16) If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are happy... But if he suffers as a Christian, let him not feel shame, but let him keep on glorifying God in this name

So why do anti-Witnesses try to hijack the term "Christian" and hide its Scriptural implications? Because anti-Witnesses recognize that it is the preaching work that makes it clear that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are by far the most prominent followers of Christ:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded

Christians all believe that Jesus died and rose for our sins. That's all we have in common.

Catholics believe that Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary and that she had perpetual virginity (never had sex with Joseph, ever). That Jesus is our Redeemer now and can be our Saviour after our soul meets Him later. If He judges us worthy of Heaven, He has saved us. Catholics also believe the Book of Revelations in different terms that many other Christian denominations. We also believe that Jesus appointed St. Peter as the high priest of His church, being the first pope. We still follow the pope's authority according to scripture to this day. The Holy Spirit watched over the Church to make sure she makes no errors (infallibility of the hoy scriptures)

Other denominations believe that Mary wasn't a perpetual virgin after Jesus' birth. Many Christian faiths believe that all of their sins are already forgiven and as soon as they die, their soul will go directly to Heaven. They see Jesus as only Saviour and not Redeemer. They don't have the 7 sacraments that Jesus gave the 12 apostles authority over. Some will marry homosexuals. Some believe in the Rapture rather than the 2nd coming. Some allow the men to marry more than one wife. Many don't communion. Some believe that ministers can consegrate the host and wine. Only a Catholic priest can do that. Some have different baptismal rites. Only the Catholic faith has a creed.

SO---There are Christians that aren't following Jesus' exact words, teachings, God's 10 Laws, nor believe in the history of the Church and many have taken out some books of the Holy Scripture, like Mormons. JW's are NOT Christians! They have made up all their own human rules and none are in accord to Jesus' teachings. It is the Catholic Church that is the only church that still hold the Truth and has the authority that Jesus gave His apostles. We celebrate the 7 sacraments. Receiving Holy Communion is a much according to Jesus. The apostles, the first churches that they set up, the first congregations were the first Christians. 200 yrs later men started to break away and start their own churches with their own human rules and such. They kept calling themselves Christians because they thought Jesus already saved them. The original Church called herself Catholic, meaning "universal", that she was for all who truly believed and wanted to know Jesus and the Truth.

P.S. Paganism isn't a faith. They are all so confused on what to believe in that they have faith in nothing at all. Only thoughts.

I agree.

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)

Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.

Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):

By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.

There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.

Because of this, I like to think of our differences as cultural and traditional.

A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

With love in Christ.

We do not believe in man made tradition.
We strictly adhere to God's Word the Bible.

BEFORE he ascended to heaven, Jesus Christ commissioned his apostles, saying: “You will be witnesses of me . . . to the most distant part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8) He had also foretold that “this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations.” (Matt. 24:14)

What an honor it is to bear the name of the only true God, the Sovereign of the universe! But with that name goes responsibility. It is a responsibility that other religious groups do not want.
“As Jehovah’s witnesses our sole and only purpose is to be entirely obedient to his commandments; to make known that he is the only true and Almighty God; that his Word is true and that his name is entitled to all honor and glory; that Christ is God’s King, whom he has placed upon his throne of authority.
