He told me that if i got good grades he would let me date, when i did start too se started to freak out and was so controling over eveything, and then when we broke up he told me that it would be best if i didnt date at all.

okay ask your dad if he would like it if you lied to him ? and if he says no then ask him why is it okay for him to lie to you? and I mean do it in a nice way not smart alick or with a smart tone. How old is the person you were seeing?
After that, ask him to explain.
If that doesn't work. Suck it up and say "Okay dad."
Most of the time parents (especially dad's) feel very protective of
their daughters.
You have plenty of time to start dating and getting 'boyfriends' like when you're 35.

tell him that he made a deal an that he needs to be faithful to it. And next time get it in writing.

he said yes ..thinking you wouldent accomplish the good grades and then you called him on it ..parents dont like to eat there words!
