LOL that's a good one. People on here need to get a sense of humor! I wouldn't worry about it unless the dog wants to write a book.

You don't have the right to punish a dog that is not your own, but you can talk to your neighbours about the issue. Tell them that their dog growls whenever you come in at night, and that it's a nuisance to you. Perhaps they will be willing to work with you regarding the situation such as placing the dog in a room when they go to bed at night. If the dog growls at other times as well, make sure to mention that, too. If you can't get your neighbors to work with you regarding the situation, you can call your local Animal Control agency and see what they have to say. Maybe they can point you in the right direction and you'll get results.
Best of luck.

Man you are so SAD!
The dog is reacting to a person not because it is you.
It is not growling because you have come home late. Dogs do not make moral judgements.
I would guess that if you come home when it is dark the dog will growl. Does it growl when you come home in daylight? I doubt it.
However, having said all that, dogs do know when someone dislikes them and they feel threatened by them With your attitude towards dogs it is no wonder that it dislikes you!
Try making friends with the dog and then it will be pleased to see you.
There are some real morons asking questions on here!

Punish the dog or punish the neighbor? What do you care if that dog growls at you from behind a door. If had a neighbor like you, I might be tempted to just open the door and let the dog do more than growl.

A dog growling at u from behing a closed door?!

OH MY GOSH!!!!!
U R REALLY GONNA DIE FROM A DOG GROWLING AT YOU FROM ''BEHIND A CLOSED DOOR"!!?? (*heavy with sarcasm*)

Get a grip, it's none of ur business whether the dog likes u or not.

He is just telling you to 'look out' because he's not sure if it's u or not because u've come home late.
Don't want to punish him for doing his job.
When he growls at u, just call out 'it's me boy' or 'it's alright' so he knows it's you.

Come on now, he's doing as any good dog would do...watching out for his human friends. I don't think he's spying on you, he likely can't even see you through the crack at the bottom of the door. You could be anyone as far as he's concerned.

Don't take it personally, the dog is just doing his job. If your home was being broken into and this dogs growling put the intruders off wouldn't you be glad?

Punish the dog for defending his home? That's what a dog is supposed to do.

if you are worried about it, talk to your neighbor. It is NOT your place to punish a dog that is not your own. Shame on you for even thinking it was in your right
