believing in one. we chose atheism over religion and a god because we wanted to. we feel it is correct so leave us alone about it. i for one have never felt the presense of a supernatural force nor needed one. and for you people who say its because i never looked, i have. i searched for years and never found any god. and while i do realise that not every catholic, jew, muslim, other, has dont this and i apprecieate that and thank you, it does happen alot expecially here in this forum. in the end i guess it all boils down to this. i respect your choice to believe so respect mine not to.

please note that i am not saying everybody who believes in god does this and again i do appreciate you for respecting our beliefs or disbeliefs (what ever you want to call it) and i thank you

to add a few details here. i have never tried to persuade people there is no god. i know a bit of why there is religion, hope. i just want to know why some (again not all) god believers feel this need to try to prove to us there is a god when we dont believe in one. and i am here in this section because i like learning about other religions and other peoples beliefs. call it theology if you want.

I guess if you are here on the R & S site and ask a question you will get our ideas. You say you never felt the presence of a supernatural force, but I disagree with you. You have, you have felt the Holy Spirit nudging you. That is why you say we are forcing our beliefs down your throat. No we are not, we are just stating our views like anyone else on this site. The Holy Spirit is the one who is making you feel unsettled about it. If you have search for God my friend He knows and you may feel bad because you think He has ignored you. He has not. I believe you will see that one day. Anyway, I respect you and appreciate how you worded your question. Don't take offence to what I said. God works in mysterious way.

It's true and you are right, we as christians are not suppose to argue the point of Gods word. Then again, maybe God is trying to reach you if you "think" you are being forced to believe. Maybe some one else on this site needs to here what is being put out there and you happen to keep coming across it. You have the right to ignore what you don't want to know.

I believe in God, but I don't believe in religion, especially the organized kind. I am new age/neo-pagan in my beliefs, and very liberal in my politics. Not all people who believe in a higher power of some kind, feel the need to push their beliefs down the throats of people who believe in something different, or in nothing at all. Usually it is the people who are in organized religions who think that their way is the only true way, and feel it is their God given duty to convert as many people as they can get to listen to them. I actually respect atheists and agnostics more than I do members of any organized religion, because they think for themselves, instead of blindly following a belief system, just because that is what the were taught to believe, and because they were taught that it is blasphemy to question what they were taught to believe.

Why would people that don't believe in God be hanging out in the Religion section? Is it only ok for athiests to try to convince people that there isn't a God? And, If you really believe that there isn't a God, what difference would it make if the Christians are wrong?

Oh stop your whining! I'm sick of hearing this from people who don't have anything better to talk about. I'm a Christian and I don't bother anyone unless they ask me questions. Here is an even better question: "Why do gays continually try to shove their beliefs, sick desires, etc. on everyone." I don't care what they do, I just don't want it in my face all the time. If you want to be an atheist so be it. Just do it and shut up about it.

Maybe it's because The Lord God Almighty is still allowing you to have the ability to see, read, think, comprehend, and to respond...and that my friend is only by His Immeasurable Grace towards you. If you don't want to acknowledge Him, then get out of this forum or get with the program. You say you have looked? Man, are you so stupid you can't comprehend what is to be seen and comprehended as you look? I think not but it's by your rebellion towards a All Loving God that could literally speak the Word and you would vanish into eternity forever...but He loves you so much that as a Father, He can't and won't do that. You should be ashamed of yourself for denying your Creator the desire for a loving relationship He has for you. Why would He allow someone like you who denies His existence and His Love for you to feel His Presence? He wants to allow you to know Him and experience Him and He will if you'll draw close to Him, He promises to draw close to you. You CANNOT draw close to Him and Him not draw close to you. It's IMPOSSIBLE!

Yeah, this is not what you wanted to hear...so HEAR IT or GET OUT of this forum and go live your miserable life.

I anger at people of your caliber asking the same ole question over and over again.

Your search for years and years that never yielded any God is alot of BS... Get Real! Real men know their Creator. PEACE!!!

Also, If your heart was right, you'd NEVER, EVER be saying the things you have said here.

There is a place you can get to that God can pull back and withdraw every bit of grace, love, compassion, and protection over your life. Your on a very dangerous path my friend. I urge you to stop talking the junk against God and start acknowledging that He really is for real. Ask Him to manifest and show Himself real to you knowing that He has the power to do so...thank Him for it in advance...give Him some days and He will start allowing you to start seeing Him in the light of your understanding. Your thoughts and understanding will start to change. Ask Him to forgive you for all your sins and the mean things you have said and done against Him and invite Him to live in your heart as He gives you the ability to do just that. PEACE!!!

Get real, nobody tried to shove God down your throat. Especially in this forum. You have a choice to be here or not, and it's not as if you are being backed into a corner and forced at gun point to ascent to belief in God.

I think lot of people do that because they want to save you,or me,or anybody. Some may think It's because they are so insecure about themselves that they need people by their side before they jump off their cliff.Religion often sets paths for people when they need to set paths for themselves. Sometimes you have to stop looking to find what you're looking for so that your spirit finds it's own answer if you get what I mean. Allot of people who believe in god haven't found him but are simply clinging on to the safety of a preset belief.

If Atheists dont believe in God then why do so many hang out here in the Religious/Spirituality forum? It's because you Atheists are pushing your belief down our throats. I see it everywhere. If there was an Atheists forum I'm sure you wouldnt see any of us there.

I hear ya...I truly think that some people want everyone to experience the love, peace and hope they do and think that by sharing this you will also. I know that has been my motive. I have never, ever shoved God down anybodys throat or told anybody they are going to hell. Peace :-)
