I imagine you are talking about saving a video off of youtube or something like that? Try this:

You need to have Firefox installed as your browser:
http://www.mozilla.com/en-us/firefox/...
Then, open it and click tools > add-ons > get extensions.
When you get to the site, you'll be looking for an extension called Video Downloader. Click on Install Extension and then restart firefox. When you visit youtube the next time, you should be able to click on the video downloader icon in the lower-right corner of the browser window and you'll be given a direct link to the file which you can then save to your computer.

If the video is on cd, copy and paste the video file.
If the video is a streaming video, download a streaming video software. If it on dvd, download http://www.dvdripnburn.com
