xanax takes about 5 days to clear out of your system, but if you don't take it regularly a 0.5mg or 1.0mg, taking into consideration you kept well hydrated, should be at too low of a level to detect

This isn't much for an answer...
The usual screen for drug testing is done as cheaply as possible. While the test units will be accurate, they are designed to only show if the drug is present (qualitative - yes or no). These kits require that a certain minimum concentration of the drug has to be present before it can detect the drug. There is a good chance that you could be under the minimum qualitative result level.
Some companies also run a screen for these "cover-up" meds. If the "cover-up" chemical is found, your sample can be flagged. Quality control will then be input with the drug screen as being an invalid result. In order to establish a qualitative result, a drug titer test could be performed, which can give quantitative results (an accurate amount). The drug titer test can show very low levels of substances. They could make you do the test again at random, or ask you why a little was found in your system. But that depends on your company.

Yes. With some stipulations.
The mean half life of alprazolam (xanax, not xanax cr, the extended release form) is 11.2 hours. That means that if you are average, you will have metabolized 99% of the dose after 56 hours, well within your range of 72 hours.
Unfortunately, the half life varies a great deal. From 6 to about 30 hours in some people. If you are one of those, perhaps very old, it could be still around 3 days later.
But, there is another consideration. Xanax is not usually thought a drug of abuse for most testing, since it is a legal prescription drug. It is unlikely that it will be tested for in any case.

alprazolam, along with any other benzodiazepine are NOT tested within a NIDA-5 standardized drug test. Drugs you will be tested for are as follows
-Amphetamines
-PCP (phencyclidine)
-THC ( delta-9 tetrahydro cannabinol)
-Opiates
-Cocaine
xanax ( alprazolam) falls under none of these categories, and who ever is testing you would have to have a special test done just for benzos, which i'll pretty much gaurentee you they wont have done. You should be 100% ok.

that low amouunt should be out or undetectable as to whether or not its tested for depends on the UA. if you are on intensive probation and it goes to a lab you can trust and believe they test for benzo's not really any body else would without some particular reason. also keep in mind if you take enough some benzo'sd will stay in your system for up to fourteen days

No. Your urine will test positive for benzodiazepines. Benzodiazepines are a class of drug that Xanax is a member of. They are fat soluble, not water soluble, so they remain if your system for 7-14 days.
If you have valid prescription for Xanax you shouldn't have a problem.
