wow, I really appreciate all the help and welcome more answers too. ......
even trying to find bread without soy flour or soybean oil or soya is difficult. it took me two hours just to do a quick grocery store run cause I read EVERY label!!! We also carry and epi pen and school has one there for her that I left in case it is needed.
I will definately try health food stores and looking at some sites. She can't even eat chicken fingers in a restaurant anymore, all fried in soybean oil. So others out there ...ask what your food is cooked in!!!!
Again thanks and really appreciate alll answers.

Yes, you will have a difficult but not impossible task. But you are not alone. You should consult a nutristionist to assist you as soon as possible. Also, health food stores and grocery stores like Whole Foods will be your best bet. This will be a commitment from the entire family to insure you daughter does not accidently come into contact with these foods.

Schools and the general public are very unware of the health risks associated with this type of allergy. Many believe only minor reactions occur when exposed but this is not the case. If she has the same allergic reactions my sister does (which bring on constriction of airway), you must make certain the school nurse knows and also has an EpiPen on site. My sister carries an EpiPen on her person at all times. She also carries a card which she hands to the waiter/waitress at resturants explaining the allergies and to make certain no foods that she has ordered contain these foods.

I wish you and your daughter the best of luck learning to cope with this difficult, but certainly managable situation.

stay away from m&m!!!!! in fact, chocolate in general. Many of these companies process thier candy in factories that have peanuts. (and in some extreme causes, just opening a bag near the child can have effects)

it may seem hard now, but it will get easier. I worked at a camp for children with various allergies including legumes and tree nuts etc and they lead very happy lives. Just make sure she knows at a young age the extent of her allergies. Kids are smarter than you think, and it really helps others officials to know what to do.

i would also try to get her into a smaller school. That will ensure that more people know about her allergy, and will be more cautious (students and teachers alike).

I have a shellfish allergy, and have had to use my epi pen (on myself, when i was 7). though it was scary, it freaked my family out far more than it did me. you'd be surprised what children will be prosaic about.

good luck!

My 7 year old has been allergic to nuts from the time she had her first peanut butter cracker when she was a year old. I have a heck of a time finding foods for her. I have to read all of the labels and make sure she has her epi pen when she goes to friend's houses and I worry whenever there is a party at school and everyone brings foods.

I hope you have access to a whole foods market. You can also check out some online stores. One great place is shopnatural.com They will show the product and list ingredients and let you know if it is safe or not for people with allergies. It will tell you if anything has been processed where nuts are processed. Good luck!

I have a difficult time finding foods without wheat (since that is my allergy). My best source was Whole Foods Market and a small neighborhood health food store. I'm sure there is a place online where you can find what you need. I wish you the best. I understand your frustration.

it's a challenge! A natural or whole foods Market is a good place to start, they often label things as being free of common alergans like these. If you live in a rural or remote area try finiding these foods on the internet. Still a challenge.. Sometimes it is best to move to or near a major city to locate these foods.

Good luck
