I kind of go for the contrarian names, the huh? double-take names. Fluffy for the pitbull, Spike for the poodle. But you did get some good names of the sort you want from people here. I did not get to name our female pit bull, but her name is Hera, and I like it. Her whole litter had Greek mythology names
