I believe the count I last heard was 250,000.
The good news is, disaster experts were predicting that number to double when the diseases hit, but that never happened.
250,000 people ALIVE today, because we managed to get water purification systems out, and educate people to use them.
Not that the death toll wasn't tragic -- and disproportionately children (not strong enough to hold on to something).
But still.
Could have been twice as bad.
I bet if you went to the UN's web site, you could get the most accurate count.
