Here are the steps...
1) Buy some earwax removal kit
2) thoroughly rince the ear in warm water. You can do this by turning on the bathtub water and placing your ear towards the running water. Do this for several minutes.

If you have ear wax there is two things you can do.
One is do go to walgreens or walmart and get ear wax removal its called similasan you leave it in for about seven minutes, you can also use a cotton ball just incase you pick your head up. If done it so it doesn't drip out of your ear. Next is what I do seems to work take the hairdryer on a low setting for a few minutes to make the ear a little hotter to break the wax up.
Or you can go to an apothocery or a wiccan store and go get cones. They are ancient ways that wax removed from your ears. its called waxing.. they put a cone cloth in your ear and burn the other end and what happens in the wax becomes loose and the heat pulls it forward.
I got to a place in boston and have the ear waxing done at least once a month because it also helps with congestion of the sinus cavity too.
You have to have someone do this with you.. because if not done right your hair can catch of fire.

If there's no ear damage and it's blocked with wax, you can try peroxide in your ears. Just dip a swab in the peroxide and put about 5-10 drops in your ears. Do not put the swab all the way in your ear, just up to the opening so that a drop will fall off into your ear canal. Keep your head tilted for 5-10 minutes to keep the peroxide in. You should hear a gurgling sound. This is the wax breaking up. Tilt your head the other way to drain. Repeat as needed. This is similar to what is in a wax removal product, only much cheaper.

Jordan, the neighborhood drug store will have an ear wax removal kit. Buy it and follow the directions. The Q-tip story is bogus, BTW. You can damage your hearing, but it'd take more pressure than you would do with your hand to get the Q-tip beyond the ear canal.

Empty and clean a washing up liquid bottle. Fill it w. v. clean warm/hot water. Get in the bath and blast your ear out. Works as well as a syringe at the docs. You might want to put some olive oil or ear cleaner in a day or so before to soften the wax as you might really need to blast hard otherwise and it can give you an ear infection if you've been swimming in a dirty pool before hand.

I used to have this problem...The best thing I ever did was take a few drops of hydrogen pyroxide in the ear and let it settle in and bubble for about 2 to 3 minutes...It will tickle really bad but I had a huge chunk of wax come right out
