Some other lady didn't like it...

If she's human, probably not a good idea. I do occasionally refer to my 16 year old cat who I've had since he was 5 weeks old as "my other boyfriend," so if you refer to your pet as your girlfriend, that might be ok.

A pet is a type of animal, not a person. Yes you were wrong in calling her a pet.

Well unless you call them a name, "pet" is a little weird cuz think about it, what is the difference from a nickname and a pet? And don't teachers say teacher's pet A.k.a slave to teacher. Anyway if she likes being called pet go ahead

Well what kind of pet are you refering too?No just kidding if she likes that name then it shouldn't bother you what other people think. And besides they maybe calling sombody a name you might not like.Hey all is fair in love and war.

yes because it makes her think you own her like she's your lackey. Because a pet like a dog is your companion and does what you say or gets in trouble. If you call her your puppy or something, some kind of pet name, that's OK.

usually calling a human being a pet is a negative thing... for example no one likes being the teacher's pet

now if your gf was more in line with a sex kitten maybe you could get clearance

It depends, did you call her that as a "pet name" or did you refer to her that way to other people? I wouldn't mind someone calling me "my pet," as long as we were cuddling, and they didn't refer to me that way around other people...because then it's a little wrong.

Who cares what other people think. But, it might have embarrased her. Men are already (supposedly) superior to women. Of course, a matter of opinion... But, rubbing something like that in really shows disrespect. Even if it is a joke.

If she wasn't annoyed with you why should this lady butt into your business. Pet, strumpet, it's all good to me...I like pet names though...
My ex-husband used to call me "baby blue"
