Sorry to hear about your dog, but the truth is the dog went to their turf and it was your obligation to protect and restrain YOUR dog. You can call animal control and see if they will do a report. Any dog that kills another dog, animal or attacks a human should be reported for the record.
Sorry about your loss, but honestly if the tables were reversed and the dogs got in YOUR yard that would be different.
Good Luck and Take Care

There is nothing you can do. Your dog needed to stay in her own yard. Things like this can be prevented if you fix fence and use a trolly if you knew this was a problem previously. This is clearly your fault. You are responsible for your dog no matter how large or small. So I dont think blaming others for your guilt is the right way to handle this. I strongly suggest moving on. Blessings I am sorry for your loss.

From the sounds of it, there isn't a lot you can do.
If the neighbor's fence is in good condition and high enough to contain their dogs then they've done their part being responsible owners. If it has large gaps and breaks then you may be able to file some sort of legal action.
But if your dog had a problem with wandering, it maybe should have been on a run.
It's unfortunate but in this situation it doesn't sound like it was really anyones “fault”.

I hate to inform you honey but you are responsible for the death of this dog.,,,,absolutely and positively .....this is your fault or the fault of the adult(s) who live in the house where your dog lived..... Dogs are like a 4 year old child. If you have not provided a safe place for them to live, and they wander out into the street and are hit by a car, the death was caused by your neglect. If this were a child, YOU would be in court for child neglect and endangerment!!!!!!This dog was not it its own yard. Why? WHY? Your dog was where it should not have been, and that is your fault. You will not win any law suit, and your neighbors are not responsible for its death..... as you said, their yard is fenced.
Before you get another dog, be sure you do your part, and have your fence in good repair.

Your dog got out and went into a yard that was fenced, the woman showed that she took the precautions she needed to keep others safe from her dog. I know it is hard but there is nothing you can do.

Sorry about that, but if your dog was in their territory, it's not the neighbor's fault. Just bury your dog, mourn for a while, and then get another dog. Try putting chicken wire along the lower portion of the fence, and even under the top layer of dirt, so that if you get another dog they can't dig through. I know, it's a lot of work, but you don't want another tragedy like this.
Just know, your neighbor is probably sad that it happened, but his/her dogs are not to blame for their (natural) reactions.

You could take them to a small claims court. But, if there is a leash law in your place of residence then I think the case would be exceptionally difficult, because your dog wasn't on a leash, and it didn't happen your property, considering your dog wandered into the fenced in area. In any case the loss of a pet is very difficult, I wish you the best of luck, and I'm sorry about your dog :(

If their dogs got out and attacked your poor dog then yes you could, but since it was your dog that crossed over into their yard and entered their terretory no you cannot do anything as their dogs did nothing wrong in the laws eyes as it was your dog that went there.

Just to clarify this, small claims court will not help. The simple fact is that your dog was in THEIR territory. Sad but true. What you CAN do, is to call you local animal control and file a report. What will this get you? Not much, but could help later on if this type of incident happens again. Sorry about your loss... Consider adoption!

Sorry, but I think your S.O.L.
If their dogs came into your yard it would be a different story.. Call the SPCA and ask, it doesn't hurt right? I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your dog and I wish you get the answer you are looking for.
