Yup, and no.
I worked 2 years in a hospital. Never caught anything.
Chances are higher that you will get sick touching something in a public place (door knobs, tables, etc.).

I've had people sneeze on me all the time. The only time I ever got sick was from this one female that actually sneezed directly into my face from overhead, but it turned out later she had infectious mononucleosis. I was sick for a weekend, but not really sick, more achy all over. That was over seven years ago.
