This is a side stitch. See link for more details. It's basically when your organs jolting around hit your diaphragm repeatedly, causing pain.

You have a cramp. It is normal. I was a track star for years, and this always happened to me. My coach always told me to lean in on the cramp. Lean to where it hurts. It will then go away. Focus on the running and not the cramp. It is a mental thing. Stay hydrated and keep it up!!

i run too and get this. i figured out its that your breathing is off. breathe in your nose and out your mouth when running. also - drink like 1 water bottle abotu 1 or 1/5 hours before running. and EAT with the water. plain water in the stomach causes cramps.

You may have pulled or injured a muscle. Have you changed your running style lately and/or just started running?
Or you may have injured it doing something else, but it particularly hurts when you use it for running.

Make sure you stretch, your abs can cramp if you do not stretch before running long distances.
