I've seen the prices online as high as 1500 and as low as 1250 but want to make sure I buy the best TV at the best price.

Hey it's a good price, who wouldn't want to pay less than MSRP for a television? You gotta be careful though, who are you buying it from? What's the return policy? Will the website be there after the holiday season? Is it a refurbished product?

More importantly, you might want to call Sharp and see if the place you're buying it from is an authorized dealer. If it isn't, then you won't have a warranty from Sharp, which means any problems, you our the $980. If those questions are answered, i'd say go for it!

Yes, but make sure you read all the small print in the ads/description to see if it's new or not. Could be refurbished.

it is a decent price, I just paid 840 for a slightly damaged one
