We've had four of them over the years. And for the two of us traveling, skiing and camping, they were perfect. With the A/T it would take us places that would scare the.....well you had to be careful. Never had any problems with any of them.
It would have been nice to get better mileage, but that's the trade off.

I have a 2003 4Runner. I love everything about it except for the gas mileage. It's not bad for it's class, but the manual recommends 91 octane so a full tank of gas is usually around $60-$70 for me. Otherwise it's a great car.

I think that the thing I dont like the most is that I dont have a bed of a pickup. I went from an 83 toyota with a 4in lift to an 87 4 runner and decided after just two weeks that I wanted a truck instead. I also dont like how much more tippy they are even stock.

Don't own 1 , but use to work on em every once in a while. I remember 2 that the Alternators went " full field " charged well over limits, and blew a brand new radio up ( with all the bells and whistles ) along with battery of course.

had one but it sucked down gas and they tend to roll over real easy, plus in 4wheel drive they suck, get stuck and the engine will bog out on automatics
