its the rich Conservatives that want the cheap labor cause if they were a threat it would have been right after 911 and not during last election when they had no excuse for not doing anything in congress for dozen years! if the Conservatives don't want cheap labor here then they are importing our jobs to other countries and every one knows that is an absolute truth that no one can dispute!

I posted this answer to another question yesterday, but it applies to this too.I hope you dont mind my posting it again.

They want America to become as bad as the nations they
ran from looking for that "better life" They do not wish to become part of this great nation. They wish to destroy the very thing they came here to achieve. You must write, call, fax.and E-mail the people that work for you in Washington,DC or what happened there could begin to happen all over this nation. And no matter where you live ,it will effect you ,your family and your way of life
Tell your government the following is what we as legal Americans demand:

1. No more illegal aliens.
2. No earned amnesty.
3. No guest workers program with path to citizenship.
4. Fines and jail time for business that hire illegals and confiscate business for expenses.
5. Prosecute and deport illegals that use stolen or fraudulent I.D., social security numbers.
6. No automatic citizenship for children of illegal aliens. Redefine original meaning of 14th amendment.
7. Build the fence or wall, what ever is necessary to stop drugs and illegal aliens.
8. No social service benefits to illegal aliens.
10. Enforce immigration laws.
11. Prosecute law enforcers responsible for the do not enforce immigration laws.
12. Begin to deport illegal aliens on at a time.
13. Day workers must be hired through State Employment agency for legal reasons.
14. Bring troops home from Iraq and put them on the border to protect American and Americans.

American citizens have had enough and we want to be heard and listened too.Keep bombarding government, local and state officials with our dis-satisfactions. They work for American citizens, us.
We can and will make a difference. We have to be persistent.

I agree with you. I love all people, and I speak Spanish and I lived in Colombia (Legally), so I am not racist. But you don't need to be racist to call it like it is. Illegal aliens are just as it says, "illegal" means that they have entered and stayed in our country ILLEGALLY. And " alien" means that they are "NOT AMERICANS" (from the United States that is). Since when are we obligated to let just anyone in without papers and let them leach off of our government which is really stealing from the taxpayers. If we were doing to Mexico like they are doing to us they would never put up with it. They would put everyone in jail and deport them, that is if they ever let them out of the jail at all. Some would probably not come out alive. I'm telling you, the people who are afraid to "offend" the illegals are stupid. I would never call them bad names or offend them personally as individual persons because I believe all human beings must be treated with dignity, but I have no qualms about stating the truth, that they should go home; and then, if they want to re immigrate properly through the right channels, and with the proper papers LEGALLY, then I will say Welcome. The farms, factories and other businesses who are hiring them here should give them term contracts to come in legally before they come into the United States, and then make them pay the same taxes the rest of us have to pay. If they pay the taxes then they can be entitled to using our social benefits. But not, if they do not pay into the system, the system cannot support them pure and simple. Every time someone illegally used our social services, it takes them away from someone else who is living legally here. I also feel that that if the illegal aliens break our laws and become violent, they should be deported immediately and not be allowed to return. I also applaud the border patrols and volunteers who help keep the illegals from sneaking in. These people are doing a great service and should not be smeared and attacked as so many pro illegal activists are doing to them. The people that I think should really be ashamed of themselves are our own elected officials who get on the pro illegal bandwagon. How can they betray our country by protecting people who are illegally living here at the expense of the true citizens of this great country. I say vote against them next election to teach them a lesson. Because they are obviously doing it for purely politically reasons and buying votes, then we should make it so that it actually goes against them in the end,and they end up losing their power instead.

Big Sup - Show your proof !!!!!!!!! Everything I read has said other wise. The labor cost , that goes into the product, reflects a very small cost in the final product.

As for the asker, I would like to say you are 100% correct. I also belive political correctness will be what destroys this country.

Say no to illegals
Say no to NAFTA

To start off, we do need illegals. Multiple jobs are performed by illegals everyday. The sudden absence of these people would create mass havoc throughout the economy, leading to rapid inflation and eventually, a massive economic depression that would ripple throughout the North American continent, and eventually, the world. How? Imagine, for a moment, that all illegals went home tonight. Tomorrow morning, there would be a general panic among employers as employees failed to show up. That, in turn, would create a sudden supply shortage of workers in low scale positions. Basic economic supply & demand - when supply is reduced, and demand stays the same, the cost goes up. The effects would be that a bidding war would erupt among employers. The average fast food worker, for example, would now be able to demand $10 - $15 per hour. Sounds great for them. But the fast food joint isn't going to just accept those costs - they will pass them up to the consumer. Pretty soon, in order to cover increased labor costs, the basic hamburger, now at a cheap $0.99, may soon be $2.99 (triple, based upon minimum wage vs. $15/hr projected).

The effects, however would not be limited to fast food. Industries, including agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and many others, would experience a rapid cost inflation. That, in turn, would lead other industries that are not effected to raise their own saleries as well, thus leading to an increase in prices. This cycle will continue, until eventually supply overreaches demand. Then, you would see a sudden deflation of the same (as businesses realise that since the illegals are no longer here, there is less demand for the products of businesses - but it would take time for this model to be realized. So, while the sudden loss of employees would be immediatly felt, the reduced demand may take months to be realized, which would then result in a lowering of the wage scale), as more people are laid off & try to find work at a lower price than everyone else.

Second, everyone in the United States, legal or illegal, has a voice in this country. To prove the point, look at the "Day without Immigrants". Their voice was heard, and was covered by all of the major news outlets, and shut numerous businesses down.

You ask why we should not get rid of the illegals. To skip over the numerous problems of the logistics of deporting them, plus making the US a police state (how else would you round them ALL up?), the answer is simple: economics & the free market economy. Illegals have a place within the economy. Their "disapperance" or deporation would not change this. Some people will not choose to do jobs that the illegals do, including highly paid jobs (don't scoff - I've seen white guys turn down jobs for $30 / hr working with hazardous waste). Illegals have an important part to play within this economy. If we were really serious about getting rid of illegals - we would come up with an immigration policy that works.

I hope this addresses some of your questions.

1) Illegal immigrants do works even low-class Americans refuse to do like cleaning your toilets.

2) The MAJORITY of illegal immigrants do pay taxes and ARE NOT on welfare, as opposed to popular belief. It's approximately 42% that are on welfare (their children, not them) and out of these 42%, I would say a large percentage DOES pay taxes

3) Everyone in this country has rights, even the worst criminals have rights.

4)You are right, no one should be ashamed of their race or nationality, not even you. Good job there, pal.

Always remember that the media paints a different story from reality, Lou Dobbs IS NOT TELLING THE FACTS. So do your own research. Cya.

illegal immigration proponents is that those who enter the U.S. by breaking the law are invariably "hard-working" and "law-abiding" once they get here.
1. That argument, however, has one major flaw. According to Justice Department statistics and the analysis of immigration experts, the "law-abiding" claim often isn't true.
As Investors Business Daily reported in March 2005:
"The U.S. Justice Department estimated that 270,000 illegal immigrants served jail time nationally in 2003. Of those, 108,000 were in California. Some estimates show illegals now make up half of California's prison population, creating a massive criminal subculture that strains state budgets and creates a nightmare for local police forces."
Citing an Urban Institute study, director of research for the Center for Immigration Studies Steven Camorata noted in 2004: "Roughly 17 percent of the prison population at the federal level are illegal aliens. That's a huge number since illegal aliens only account for about 3 percent of the total population."
1. Former California Gov. Pete Wilson places the percentage of illegal aliens in U.S. prisons even higher. In 2001, he told Fox News Channel's Bill O'Reilly:
"We had problems related to the costs of educating children who were acknowledged to be in the country illegally, healthcare costs. One in five in our prison population were illegal immigrants who had been convicted of a felony after entering the country illegally."
The Federation for American Immigration Reform also turned to the Justice Department to get statistics on criminal aliens. They report:
"In March 2000, Congress made public Department of Justice statistics showing that, over the previous five years, the INS had released over 35,000 criminal aliens instead of deporting them. Over 11,000 of those released went on to commit serious crimes, over 1,800 of which were violent ones [including 98 homicides, 142 sexual assaults, and 44 kidnaping].
"In 2001, thanks to a decision by the Supreme Court, the INS was forced to release into our society over 3,000 criminal aliens [who collectively had been convicted of 125 homicides, 387 sex offenses, and 772 assault charges]."
1. Up to a third of the U.S. federal prison population is composed of non-citizens, according to Federal Bureau of Prisons statistics - but not all non-citizen prison inmates are illegal aliens.
As to the "hard-working" claim, CIS notes: "The proportion of immigrant-headed households using at least one major welfare program is 24.5 percent compared to 16.3 percent for native households."
Investor's Business Daily concurs: "Once [illegals] get here, they are 50 percent more likely to be on welfare than citizens."
