the advise you are getting from people on here seriously scares me!!

do NOT use ice directly on your skin-this could cause the burn to get worse b/c the ice can actually burn the skin itself.

do NOT use food products-these leave you open for infection and can trap heat-making the burn worse.

run cool water over the burn area for 10-15min
apply aloe vera gel (you can put it in the fridge to help it soothe when applying)
cover the burn with gauze to keep the aloe vera gel from rubbing off and to also keep your clothing from rubbing up against it and irritating the burn.

you can take ibuprofen for the pain. 200-400mg every 6 hours as needed but no more than 1200mg in 24 hours

if the burn has blistered or splits open-make an appt to see your dr within 24 hours. these are signs of a second degree burn and you will require a special cream called silvadene to treat it.

Lavender oil is good for burns such as on the iron. It also reduces scarring. I'd recommend running water over the area for a cup of tea burn though.

try mustard. yes like the kind you put on a sandwich. any brand will do put it on the burn and let it dry and don't take it off just leave it for a few hours. works every time.
