my 12 week old chi had normal bowel movements yesterday. Today it is mucus with a hint of blood
she is playful and active eating/drinking normally.
She has been getting into the adult dog food the last few days.

It could be the adult food but it could also be intestinal parasites or the beginning of parvo. Get your puppy in to see your vet and take a stool sample with you so they can check it

She's a puppy, so she MAY even be nibbling on things you don't see her nibbling on. Adult dog food is a change for her, so that could definitely do it. Just keep an eye on her and if it continues, have her checked. Has she had her vaccinations? I assume so at 12 weeks, but if not, it could be more than just an adjustment. Some vets will even let you bring in a sample without bringing in the dog (saves you office visit costs). If it's viral...she is a VERY small dog, and can dehydrate quickly.

Get your dog to a Vet quick. Could be the start of parvo, could be worms or something else, but if it is Parvo there is about an 80 percent survival rate when treatment is initiated at first signs. Your Vet needs to determing the cause. Even a Vet wouldn't guess at this site as to what your dog may have.

It is probably just adjusting to the adult food. My dog and I went through that same thing. Eventually you dog/puppy will adjust to the food and everything should be ok.

some extra large dogs and smaller dogs have genetic nutrition problems so talk to you vet my dog had that too and he had worms, but don't worry 80% of dogs as puppys get it just me sure you look into it with your doctor
