You should eat according to your appetite. However, it is better to make it easy on your body and cut down on heavy and greasy food. If you don't feel like eating much then don't eat much.

old wives tale
Starve a fever? Feed a cold?
Is it starve a fever, feed a cold; or feed a fever, starve a cold? Actually, neither is true.

If you're fighting an infection or virus, your body needs fluid, nutrients and rest.

Whether you have a cold or the flu, you'll still benefit from eating fruits, vegetables, low-fat protein and whole grains.
If you've lost your appetite, be sure to drink plenty of water or other clear fluids. Also, see if hot soup appeals to you.

Yes, but you want to be sure to take in extra vitamen C as it helps your immune system fight invaders. (You should take vit. c in the winter months with colds are so very common.)

It's fine to eat like you usually do. Hot foods that clear the nasal passage make you feel better because they clear the air way and you can breathe better until you get congested again. Colds suck but just take your vit. C, keep yourself warm, drink plenty of water and just take care of yourself.
