My daughter just turned a year old on December 10.She loves to try and put things together and take them apart. So I was thinking that she would like Mr.Potatoe Head for Christmas cause she can take his face and all apart and put him back together.Plus she already knows where her nose is when ou ask her so I also thought this would be good for her to learn where the rest of the face(ears, eyes, ect) are.But my husband and my grandma all thought that she is to young and that is has to many small pieces. What do you all think?

no offence hun but i agree with them, there is alot of small parts, and i think the age requirement is 3 years old? but instead how about getting her big puzzles, with big puzzle peices, something that she wont be able to choke on. but if you were to get the mr. potato head, then please make sure that you do not let her play with it unless you are around her and watching her carefully. and when she is done playing with it, keep it up somewhere where she cant reach.

It says ages 3+ on the website, but just take away any small pieces and watch that the other pieces do not break (like the arms of the glasses)

Megablox are good too. Stacking toys. Puzzles. This looks cool:

Go to a toy store I am sure you can find tonnes of stuff.!

I think if your daughter knows not to put small pieces in her moutht then that would be a great idea to let her have the toy. I always say if you challenge a childs mind the more they learn. Mr. Potato Head also lets her explore her imagination with putting different things on him to wear. My advice would be to let her have it and if you find that maybe it is too "grown-up" for her then just put it up until she is old enough. IT NEVER HURTS TO TRY!!

The smallest thing on MR Potatoe head is the ears, and if you look hard enough they should have some geared for smaller kids or with bigger parts. Either that or take the ears away not a big deal.

Yes, I think it may have some pieces that are too small for her. Does it have an age on the box that it comes in? I can't remember. I think it would be okay for her to play with as long as someone was watching her. I just probably wouldn't leave it where she could go get it without someone knowing.

at a year old, children tend to put things in their mouthes. mr. patatoe head has many small things that she can choke on. it would be a great idea if the pieces werent so small. my brother got my daughter this really cool gift for my daughters first birthday. its a dog, its body parts are labeled and when you press the buttons it says what they are. it sings the alphabet and it counts to ten, there are many songs that it sings and it even laughs when you squeeze the tummy. its cute, and educational. he either got it from wal-mart or toys r us...i cant remember.

Yes and no. There are alot of small pieces that she could choke on but yes it is a good learning experience. Maybe get it and just watch her carefully while she plays with it (Help her and teach her how to do it). Or even just allow her to have the bigger pieces at first (smaller pieces when she's older). It's really up to you. I think it would be good for her. Good luck

If I remeber correctly the pieces are rather chunky with Mr. Potato Head. As long as you play with her to make sure she doesn't swallow anything that would be fine. You may also want to get the wooden puzzles of alphabet, numbers, farm animals, etc. My kids loved putting those together when they were way young.

Your daughter is very smart but remember she is only ONE year old. So get a toy with larger pieces that she cannot swallow. She is still a baby and babies put everything in their mouth. Don't take a chance on your baby choking. The results could be a disaster and it is not worth it.

She may be too young for some of the smaller pieces that may pose a choking hazard, so just pick through the parts and see what may be dangerous. Mr. Potato Head is a perfect "tool" for teaching your toddler body parts... just be sure to provide adequate supervision.
