Most cats do very well when you bring them inside. I have never had a problem. Just make sure that you show them the litter box and they usually get the message immediately. Cats are very smart!!!

its hard but you can train an out side cat to use the litter box. make sure you show the cat where the litter box is. then take the cat to the litter box and take her paw across the litter. keep doing this evreytime you see the cat sniffing around

He/she will adapt. At first use dirt in the box as it's closest to outside then slowly add litter or newspaper, clay litter whatever you want to use, in it and very slowly change it over to all litter. If your cat makes a mess, poops on the floor or something, pick it up and put it in the litter box so her/his smell is in there and the cat sees and smells itself in the box, it will get the hint.

My experiences is it is impossible to train a cat to use a litter box after not using one. You can let her in some times. Just be sure to put her back out after she eats and wakes up from a long nap.

Try Tina's suggestion. If you are away during the day confine her to a small space for the first week or so.
It would be best to have two boxes for her. For an extra $5 it's good insurance that things will go well. In the small space she would need just the one. When you let her use more of the house, have the second box.

Be prepared for her to cry and want to go back out though. she will also try and escape when people come in.
If your not sure about the tray - mix some soil in with the litter and it should help to motivate her use it.
