I was in the Navy for 6 years...

Best advice...listen to your mom...do all that "lame studying" and THEN go into the Navy...you can go in as an officer and life is much better.

You should do what you want, but it never hurts to listen to the wisdom of your parents. Do your research before you talk to your parents. If you're smart, then you should do well on the ASVAB and have your pick of the jobs they offer.
The Navy has more technical jobs then some of the other branches of the military. Look at what the Navy has to offer and then see if that is something that you could transfer to a civilian job when you get out. There are also various programs that can help you with college, or even earning college credits while you're serving. You can also look into officer programs too.
Being in the Navy will allow you to see parts of the world that you may never be able to see otherwise. It's a great life if you are single but it can be hard on a family. If there is a conflict going on, it's better to be in a submarine under the ocean than to be running around on a battlefield somewhere.

one: at the age of 18, you are considered an adult and can enlist in the Navy if you so choose, regardless of what your parents say.

two:. Plenty of people (enlisted) in the Navy have 4 year degrees.. or More

Three: if you aren;t ready for college, the militray will instill in you some discipline so that when you ARE ready to go, it will go better for you.

four: the GI bill can gty you $30,000 and more towards a college education.. for only a $1200 initial investment.

Well to get nto decent job in the Navy, they are gonna send you to a school where you will have to do that lame studying and such. Unless of course you tell them you want to be a undesignated seaman, in which case you get to chip paint and then repaint the same stupid section of ship, over and over and over and over.

I always do what I feel like, so should you. If you want to Enlist in the Navy, don't let anyone ANYONE stop you. Not me. Not your parents. Not your "friends". Not Eurite. NO ONE!!!

PS. GET IN SHAPE.
