Go ask the leaders of Singapore and Malaysia. They have said if the vast resources hadn't been consumed in Viet Nam their fledgling states might have fallen to communism.

The war in Vietnam was fought in Washington DC. Just like the Iraq war... These are political wars to the humor of what ever party is in charge at the time at our expense.. Yes the Vietnam war was a failure but it was lost by our politicians not our armed forces.. You can't be politically correct and fight a war..

Failure, without a doubt. The word wasted came to mean killed during the Vietnam war, because the loss of life in that war was, indeed, a waste.

The failure was this. Congress banned weapons and training for South Vietnam after the U.S. left. When the U.S. was in South Vietnam, the U.S. was training the South Vietnamese to fight. They held up a year after the U.S. left, ran out of ammo and were crushed. That's why South Vietnam fell. As long as the U.S. was in it, it was a success.

it was big failure and it wasn't worth it be cause American around 1970 realized it was a no-win war and no one won but eventually south Vietnam was taken over by north Vietnam.

It was a failure. War should be the VERY LAST OPTION. We have (and have had for some time now) the greatest fighting forces the world has ever seen and when forced into it we should , and can, annihilate our enemy until every man, woman and child is dead or unconditionally surrendering...that's victory. Not only was it not achieved, it wasn't even the objective.

its a failure in the sense that it did not stop the spread of communism in south east asia, personaly i have the upmost respect for veterans that served in that war but feel that their lives were unjustly wasted.
However. for those people who say we lost vietnam id , like to offer my own personal oppinion
We signed a Treaty With North Vietnam. we pulled all of our troops out. then a couple months AFTER we left, they broke the treaty and took over South Vietnam, so technicly South Vietnam lost, we didnt we just stop fighting
Thank you

If Nixon just dropped a nuke on Hanoi, we'd have won the war. No war is worth the cost of inoccent people's lives.
