Yes, some times a person who doesn't know you or have a connection can be the most objective. If nothing else, you may learn something about yourself.

Yeah, I've been to therapists. And I'd go again if a situation arises where I need to. They can help, depending what the issue is. BUT even with therapy, the client is still the one responsible for recovery and change. Therapists are best looked at as guides.
Some don't like talking to therapists. If they're not gonna talk to the therapist, they're not gonna get much outta the therapy. Others, myself included, find it easier talking to therapists than to friends and family.
Some are afraid to see a therapist because of the stigma society attaches to seeing "shrinks" and because they think that seeing one means they're "crazy". But society is beginning to realize more and more that going to a therapist does not mean you're "crazy". People see therapists for a variety of reasons, from coping with job related stress, to dealing with the loss of a loved one.

This answer depends on a lot of if's:
If I thought it would be benificial
If I did not have a good friend to talk to first
If I wanted my thoughts and concerns dealt with in confidential manner.
Basically, a therapist is a good tool for you if you need to get at something or need medical help. But if you just need to talk to someone a Minister or some other type of counselor might be a better choice. I went to a Chaplin in Iraq once when I needed to release some stress about things that were going on and I could not talk to someone in my unit. And yes, it did help.
On balance...yes I would go to a therapist...but for something major.

Yes - if my issue(s) were messing me about and stuffing up my life, I would go. I have been in the past and it has been very helpful. It sort of depends on the therapist and on how much work you are prepared to do.

Yes I would. To admit a need and seek outside help is NOT a weakness but empowerment for yourself. Sometimes we find ourselves feeling alone in this ever growing small world of ours.
The good thing being there are others to lean upon and unburden oneself. Relief or release from the burden makes it easier to cope and deal with all the other happenings in our lives.

The way to know whether or not to go to a therapist or not is to ask yourself the question, "Is it interferring with my lifestyle?"
If it is then you should go.
