My regular dentist says he won't see patients until they're 3, but pediatric dentists recommend bringing toddlers in at 12 months.

There are many different thought on this.

I work with kids.
Some of the dentists see the kids at 2 some of them wait until 4 or 5.

If you have any concerns, questions, see any decay or unusual development it is best to take a child in ASAP .

Most dentists feel it is never too early to start dental hygiene.

It is best to try to never let a child fall asleep with a bottle in it's mouth.
And I know toddlers should regularly brush their teeth.

I asked my dentist about it and they said the same thing. They don't even want to see kids until they are 3 - unless there is some serious issue. I thought it would be a good thing for my 2 yr old to sit in the chair and get used to it a couple of times but they don't want her. Call your dentist maybe they are a little more lenient.

I think it depends on the dentist. My regular dentist wouldn't see my son until he was 5 years but a pediatric dentist will see a child at 3 years or younger.

I was told it was best to take them when they are a year old but when I took my step sons to the dentist I asked their dentist and he said 3 to 31/2 cause then most of their teeth are in.

I took my daughter at age two just to get her acquainted with our dentist, she went with me for my appointment, then the Doc checked out her teeth. She now goes with everyone in my family for their appointments and gets her teeth looked at, so when she needs a cleaning, she will be used to our Dentist and know what's going on. If your child is able to process the information that your dentist is a Doctor and his teeth are important, take him with you for a "check up."

Before they get their first teeth I was told. It's to make sure they're going to come in right and of course so they can teach you proper cleaning of their new teeth.
