Dual citizenship has been permitted in France since 1973, with some exceptions. However, by French law you will be stripped of your citizenship if you serve in a civil capacity(for the U.S) without leave to do so. The same applies to U.S dual citizens. Be very careful of that last one, as serving in the French Army is one way to get citizenship, but it will strip you of your U.S one. You'll want to contact a French immigration lawyer certainly.
