things that have a worldview different from your own? For instance, some Christians won't read or watch Harry Potter because they feel it endorses witchcraft. Some wouldn't read the Qu'ran (sp?) Do you feel that you need to have an educated opinion, or do you avoid them altogether? How do you approach these topics in your personal life and why?

I think it's very important to have an educated opinion. I am open to reading or watching many different things..if by doing so, my faith is challenged, I pray about it and my faith becomes stronger. It better allows me to defend my faith if someone challenges it.

I don't have the patience to read the Qu'ran but I am willing to learn about it so I can better understand it. It's easy to call terrorists crazy barbarians but unless you are knowledgeable about Islam and its various sects, you will never know the real reason they hate the infidels so much.

I have watched Harry Potter and have read books on different religions. I don't find them of interest to me, because I belong to Christ and not interested in a way that I won't follow. I wouldn't read the Qu'ran because I have never seen or heard of anybody of that faith being the type of individual I want to be. I know where I belong. It nice to go visit but nothing beats Home Sweet Home.

The bible says that guy must be with females and now not the wrong way round. It additionally says that you simply cannot have prematital intercourse or to lie, so sure christians suppose those matters. I didn't seem on the points of interest you stated for the practical incontrovertible fact that christians could under no circumstances make a sight that's referred to as godhatesfags. Those individuals customarily have disorders and I dont desire to seem at whatever that has a identify like that. Please don't feel that each one christians slander individuals when you consider that of there sexual personal tastes. Some folks without difficulty say that it isn't proper and that God stated it used to be improper.

I'm a Christian myself and I just simply choose not to watch certain things because I'm just simply not interested in them. What I tell my friends is that it's alright to watch these things as long as you realize that there is no other Truth then God's Truth. by watching you can even gain a perspective on how other believe. It's all in your motive behind watching things like Harry Potter or reading the Qu'ran.

Well, I watched Wizard of Oz when I was kid, but I saw the theatrics of it all, not that it was about witchcraft, and the same with Harry Potter. I let my kids watch it. These movies did not "preach" witchcraft" but gave a portrait of a world, had it been made with witches in it, and since I know that not to be true, I watch and allow my kids to watch.

I talked to my pastor about this because I was really interested in getting other POV's. He told me it was perfectly acceptable to read the Qu'ran he said knowledge is power. Compare the differences see what they see different then us. If your faith is strong then you wont be sucked in by any other religions, and I read the Qu'ran and got a much better understanding of that religion and the way they believe and why they do.

hope this helps..

I read Harry Potter for enjoyment. The Bible to strengthen by faith. The Qu'ran to strengthen my intellect. And the Da Vinci code so I know how to combat the ignorance it supports.

I read potter series because I don't need to be taught magic, I did read the left behind series, to find out what they were thinking, they were about 45% wrong but just needed to know what my friends who believe them would be thinking. I am really into science fiction, not much science fantasy. I don't watch R rated movies

Harry Potter is a movie that was meant to entertain, not inform. I will treat it as such.

The Qu'ran, as I understand it, is a scripture of a faith that is different from my own. I will respect it as such.

They are different, nothing more.

World views being different, I don't mind at all, I find them informative, entertaining etc. Things that are violently or sexually graphic on the other hand, I prefer not to watch those.
