If you don't have to work, volunteer for the day. Even if they don't celebrate where you are, there are bound to be charities and missions and NGOs that would glad to have an extra set of hands.

And when that's done, treat yourself to a nice comfort food feast.

If you're having trouble with language barriers, visit the animals. Go to a zoo or such.

Or, if you live in a cold climate and are visiting a warm one, do something fun, something that would make your shivering friends and family jealous. Surfing? Building sand castles? Riding a camel? Hiking in the rain forest?

Also, no matter where you are, for some people Christmas is just another day. It might be a great day to make new friends with different backgrounds.

You can spread peace and love on any day and likewise you can practice religion on any day too. What I mean by that is to celebrate your 'home' when you are there - you don't have to wait for Christmas to celbrate your friends and family or your religion.

Being alone on Christmas day could be a good time for reflection and meditation or if you're not into that there's bound to be some people in the same boat as you that you can go party with.

Find something in the area you are travelling in that reminds you of home. After that, go watch a children's Christmas play, go to a church service somewhere, and watch plenty of old Christmas movies and TV shows. It might remind you of home somewhat, but at least it will be good memories.

Also, call your relatives and wish them a merry Christmas.
