How Can I Tell if I Have to have my tonsils removed?
If you have tonsillitis, your throat usually hurts and it's hard to eat or drink or even swallow. You may also have a fever. Here are some other signs that bacteria or a virus is infecting your tonsils:

redder-than-normal tonsils
a yellow or white coating on the tonsils
a funny-sounding voice
swollen glands in the neck
fever
bad breath

The only sure way to find out would be to go to the Dr and get a throat culture. Try gargling with some salt water. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

if you're in the US you won't find a doctor that will, it's pointless surgery, they will grow back. sounds like you have strep throat, antibiotics will get rid of it.
