I have heard that it is not possible to fully comprehend or appreciate a *translation* of the Quran.

If you have read it in Arabic and another language, what is your opinion?

it's true. there are certain things that can be lost in translation, esp with Arabic, a language where every word is filled with meaning, (which is hard to explain). it's still worth reading, and A. Yusuf Ali has a good translation in English, but it's worth learning Arabic. even hearing it in Arabic when you don't know the words is powerful. Whether you are Muslim or not, the poetry of the Qu'ran is exceptional and should be heard, even if only for its artistic merit
