yes ismael was, here's a little story you might like in galations about ishmael and hagar

galations 4:
Hagar and Sarah
21Tell me, you who want to be under the law, are you not aware of what the law says? 22For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman and the other by the free woman. 23His son by the slave woman was born in the ordinary way; but his son by the free woman was born as the result of a promise.
24These things may be taken figuratively, for the women represent two covenants. One covenant is from Mount Sinai and bears children who are to be slaves: This is Hagar. 25Now Hagar stands for Mount Sinai in Arabia and corresponds to the present city of Jerusalem, because she is in slavery with her children. 26But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother. 27For it is written:
"Be glad, O barren woman,
who bears no children;
break forth and cry aloud,
you who have no labor pains;
because more are the children of the desolate woman
than of her who has a husband."[b]

28Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. 29At that time the son born in the ordinary way persecuted the son born by the power of the Spirit. It is the same now. 30But what does the Scripture say? "Get rid of the slave woman and her son, for the slave woman's son will never share in the inheritance with the free woman's son."[c] 31Therefore, brothers, we are not children of the slave woman, but of the free woman.

Regardless of whether Ishmael was technically a "bastard" child is irrelevant. Ishmael was not the child of the promise. Ishmael represented willful disobedience to God. This is why Islam is not a legitimate religion. Mohammad descended from Ishmael, and was a false prophet. Only the descendants of God's promised offspring Isaac are His chosen people.

Although Abraham wasn't married to Hagar, it was quite legal for him to have children with her with the consent of his wife Sarah. Ishmael was not the promise child, he is the child of impatience and disobedience to God on Sarah's part.

Ishmael parents were Hagar and Abraham. God provided protection for both Hagar and Ishmael. If God be for you, who can be against you.

No.
Ishmael's father was Abram.

A bastard is a child without a father. The Bible says
Ishmael's mother was Haggar, maid-servant to Sarai, Abram's wife. Haggar and Abram were not married.

Iffy - Sarah gave Hagar to her husband. Does that imply marriage? IDK. If so, that would mean Abe had 2 wives, and I don't think that's acceptable, but maybe at that time it was. There is no mention specifically of a marriage in this situation. More like a surrogate mother. Sarah couldn't have babies, so she tried to find another mother to give Abraham a son.

Yes. He was the offspring of Abraham and Sarah's handmaid, Hagar. He is also the father of the Arabic peoples. It doesn't matter that he was born out of lawful wedlock. God chose to protect him. God is bigger than our sin.
