I have to decide which of the two would be a better learning method. Commuting to the school would be about an hour and a half round trip...,and having a virtual class from home would be ideal...but would it be just as effective? It would be done in real time. What would you do?

There are many factors to consider:

- subject matter (engineering classes are easier virtually than interactive discussion type classes)
- type of learner you are (visual, auditory or kinestetic - learn by doing)
- temperament, esp. whether you are extroverted or introverted (if you're extroverted and need to talk things out with others, virtual classes will be difficult. if you're introverted and need to process things inside your head, virtual classes will take the distraction of other people away.)
- distractions at home (kids make it difficult to concentrate on watching classes)
- the professor's availability on chat/telecon/office hours

HI!
Classroom.
Currently I am taking a Latin class online. I feel like its not as effective at all because some of the assignments aren't required and you tend to find yourself putting them off. (Thats what i'm doing right now actually). You don't learn as much and if you have a question its kind of like figure it out yourself unless you email the teacher guy but it takes days for him to respond which by then you don't even care. A classroom you have someone to ask and even though thats a long drive you will probubly have a better education. Plus you'll get bored sitting at home all the time even if it sounds good now. I wish i could take Latin classroom style.

Good Luck!!!

Don't make the mistake and take it online!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can see how taking a class virtually is easier, but for me personally, i think i learn better in a classroom.

Hello,

It depends on a few things.

1. Your personality.

a. Do you feel a positive sense of pressure when around people? b. There is also a magic to "have to show up for it" situations. Especially when other people are waiting on you at the place to show up to.

2. What you do for a living.
a. Example, if you work in a huge place with 1000's of co-workers you may enjoy the peace of working on studies alone. Being away from all the mobs for a while.
b. If you work on your own, you may enjoy the social aspects of going and meeting a bunch of people of like mind and similar focus.

Best wishes,
~Marcus:)

Well the virtually sounds like it would be better choice, because you can spend the time you were going to use on driving on studying. But you have to be very responsible because it would be very easy to skip class and make sure you can have quiet time to actually view it.

I took online classes and I didn't learn nearly as much as I would have in a classroom.
