no because its your way of showing respect to him. My dad hates tattoos but I told him when he passes that Im getting a potrait of him done and he said that hed like that even though he hates tattoos. Its just cause its a way that you know how to show respect and honor to the person you love.

I admire your desire to remember your father, but if your father made it clear to you that he disliked tattoos, it would seem to me that it wouldn't be right to get a tattoo to "honor" him. Granted he's not physically with you now, but how would that be "honoring" to him, if you're doing something he didn't like? I think it's very special that he called you by that name, and he gave you a pet name like that. Is there anyway you could maybe get a necklace or something? I know that at many shops like Something Silver (you can find it on line too) they sell silver chains and charms. You could perhaps find a nice little lizard charm or something and wear it on a chain around your neck at all times, like how many people wear crosses. This way you're wearing something with you, that reminds you of your father, and you're not doing something that you know he disliked. Plus, it's cute and I'm sure you'd even get compliments on it. If you even have the slightest bit of uncertainty, don't do it, because after you have it on you, you'll feel unsure and not happy about it, and then it's done. It's permanent. There are other options where you can honor your father's memory. It sounds like you both had a sweet relationship. God bless. :-)

Ask yourself if you would have done this while he was alive. If you had too much respect not to do it then, then your are probably disrespecting him by doing it in his remembrance. Consider something else for a remembrance. Get another tattoo for yourself if you want it.

I'm sure that you will remember your dad without the lizard tattoo.

Hi Rowbee, You dad may of not like tattoos, but i don't think he wouldn't mind if you got a lizard to remember him by.It's a great way of showing your respect for your dad.At least that's how i feel about it. So go for it.

I'm not sure that it would bother your dad any more, either way, and I hear about a lot of people who worked through some of their grief and found a measure of closure by getting a memorial tattoo. You have to remember people in a way that makes sense to you.

My dad disliked tattoos when i was growing up...when i turned 19 he got a tattoo on his arm. I don't think it is wrong...to get one but don't go over board and get 4 or 5. Good luck and I hope you like it if you do get one... remember theres no goung back.

My husbands seventeen year old brother passed away three years ago. He didn't agree with our tats either but he had a portrait of him done on his shoulder in remembrance. He never condemned us for the ink but he just didn't think that ink was for him. If your dad was on the same thinking then I would see no reason why you couldnt decide to remember him in your OWN WAY. It is not about pleasing anyone but yourself. If it helps with closure then go for it. It did with my husband.

if you are doing it for you, its okay. otherwise if you're doing it so he can know you love him and miss him you definitely shoud not do it since he don't even like tattoo's to begin with. I'm sure there are other ways to go about this such as a necklace with a lizard charm....

If the point of getting a tattoo is to honour your dad, wouldn't the best way to honour him be to honour what he would want...not getting a tattoo?!

Yes, if he didn't want you to have a tattoo when he was alive it would be disrespectful to get a tattoo in his name.
