Let's say I break into your house. Let's say that when you discover me in your house, you insist that I leave. But I say, "I've made all the beds and washed the dishes and did the laundry and swept the floors; I've done all the things you don't like to do. I'm hardworking and honest (except for when I broke into your house). According to the protesters, not only must you let me stay, you must add me to your family's insurance plan, educate my kids, and provide other benefits to me and to my family (my husband will do your yard work because he too is hard-working and honest, except for that breaking in part). If you try to call the police or force me out, I will call my friends who will picket your house carrying signs that proclaim my right to be there. It's only fair, after all, because you have a nicer house than I do, and I'm just trying to better myself. I'm hardworking and honest, um, except for well, you know. And what a deal it is for me! I live in your house, contributing only a fraction of the cost of my keep, and there is nothing you can do about it without being accused of selfishness, prejudice and being an anti-housebreaker. Oh yeah, and I want you to learn my language so you can communicate with me. Sound a little bit off the mark??

This is why I seriously disagree on immigration policies that President Bush has set up. Although I am a republican and one of the few people left who supports him, I do not agree with this at all. Undocumented immigrants should not be allowed to stay in our country, and our border should be secured. I agree that this is totally off the mark. While I'm rambling on, I might add that even though we have guards patrolling the border, they aren't even sufficiently armed! Now what good is it to have guards who can't take a strong course of action when protecting the border? It makes no sense. Also, I would have beat that immigrant with a baseball bat had he ended up in my home.

On the surface, the analogy is a good one. However, there are a lot of details that it doesn't mention that factor into the equation.
For instance...
1. It doesn't mention the fact that your landlord has an agreement with the neighboring landlords to allow their tenants to move into your house without having to pay rent, although you won't be allowed to move into their house (i.e. NAFTA). Not that you would want to move into their house, as it is run down and needs a lot of work.
2. It doesn't mention that your landlord insists that you leave your back door unlocked and the alarm turned off (i.e. open and uncontrolled borders). You can lock your front door and upstairs windows (i.e. intermittent deportations and an underfunded border patrol, mainly for PR purposes), but the landlord will look the other way if he sees them go through the back door.
3. It doesn't mention that your landlord is willing to put them on his insurance (you don't have to put them on yours, per se), but that he will in turn charge you more rent for it.
4. It doesn't mention that it's YOUR EMPLOYER that is the one forcing you to learn their language, so they can sell your "house guests" the products/services that your employer provides.
5. It doesn't mention that your landlord will pay you a nominal amount for allowing them to do your housework (i.e. subsidies for businesses that employ illegals as below-cost labor), but that you will be responsible for any necessities not covered by the less-than-nominal wages you in turn pay them (i.e. Section 8, food stamps, Medicaid, etc.).
6. It doesn't mention that for the most part, the houseguests will work hard and not cause trouble, but that if they do cause trouble, they will be locked in your basement so they don't cause any more trouble, although you will have to feed them and provide medical care (i.e. prison).
7. It doesn't mention that a good number of your guests will eventually move out and get a house of their own (i.e. become legal or citizens), and that their landlord will eventually turn around and do the same thing to them that they did to you.
By now, I'm sure that most of you can figure out that the "landlord" is the US government, which allows, and in some cases invites, the "house guests" to come over to your house. In a way, you can't blame the "house guests" for coming over since the landlord has either invited them over, or made it very easy for them to come over. And you don't have the right to tell the "house guests" to leave because you're not the landlord.
However, you do have the right to change landlords (by VOTING in people who will change the rules, or at least enforce the ones we already have). My advice to anyone who doesn't like the current situation we're in... go out and vote for people who will truly change the system. You can't really blame the illegals who come here because the system we have is broken and practically invites them to come here. Until we fix the system, illegals will continue to come here and the US government will continue to do very little about it.

Excellent!! I give you a BIG thumbs up!
"I learned that illegal immigrants actually contribute a little less than one percent MORE than americans do to our economy in class once." Holy moly - your teacher is some kind of ignorant! How on earth could people who don't pay taxes AND who send most of their money home contribute more to our economy?? And people wonder why I would refuse to send a child to public school....

Sounds kinda on the money! We the taxpayers do pay a lot of money for the ILLEGALS that are in this country. I would like to see an American go to Mexico and demand the same as the ILLEGALS are trying here!
