Suggest books that they can read. Tell them that they should read the books with an open mind, but then they must listen to their inner voice and decide what they believe, based on that and only that. Tell them that they should never base their beliefs on what anyone else tells them they should believe. Their are as many valid paths to God, as there are people, and the only real truth is the truth found inside yourself. But, suggesting books to read that ring true for you, will give them the chance to see that there are other ways, besides the way they have been told is the only right way. It should make them begin to think for themselves, and know that it is alright to question, instead of following blindly.

I think you just need to enlighten them. Show them the other side of the picture. Show them that there is a world of true knowledge right through the door if they are willing to open it.

I think the main thing is that you need to be very non critical about their religion while doing it. You need to respest what they believe in, but at the same time, hopefully show them something they've never thought about before.

The rest is up to them.

If they ask, show them the truth. Once the truth is known about Christianity's history and origins, it's kind of hard to keep believing.

That's a good question. Since faith is instilled in childhood, it's very deeply ingrained for most people.

But I think Julia Sweeney's "Letting Go of God" is a great CD to have friends borrow if they're questioning their faith. It's very funny, not too serious, and they may identify with her.

I often give copies of the Satanic Bible for birthdays, anniversaries, etc... Point out inconsistencies in the Bible. Ask the hard questions. Share our own stories of breaking free.

It is up to them to act on their feelings. If they ask I will answer. I will never stoop to the level of people that try to tell you that their religion is the only truth by preaching, badgering and threatening! And you know who you are!

Why do you want to convert Christians? What purpose does it give you? Are you uncomfortable with the lack of religion you have? do you think having friends with the same lack of beleif will comfort you? did you know you sound really stupid right now?

Answer their questions calmly quietly and patiently. You cannot 'save' them, and if they want to be 'saved', they're 9/10's of the way free from it already.
