The real improvement with bronze was that man could spend less time making his own tools and more time using tools.

Bronze did not have any huge advantages in use, and in fact was in some cases worse than its predecessors. For example, some recent studies have shown that stone axes were sharper than any bronze, and in timed studies, someone using a stone axe could cut down a tree faster than he could cut a similar tree using a bronze axe. The difference is that after that one tree, the bronze axe is still ready to go, while the stone axe is shot. The tree cutter will have to take time (a lot of time) to knap a new axe.
The same is true for skinning and butchering an animal - a freshly shaped flint knife is sharper than any bronze knife. But after that deer, the bronze knife would need to be sharpened; a new flint knife would be required.

The net result was that man's productivity went up. He spent more time producing goods - skins, foods, houses, whatever - and less time making tools.

That's the real contribution of bronze to civilization.

Bronze was most likely lighter. Also, it could be sharpened more finely. It wasn't as cumbersome as stone, wood, or clay. It would also have been more durable than those three.
