As long as the puppy wants it and can chew it, that would be fine. If your puppy needs a tiny kibble, Royal Canin has an excellent kibble with their "Baby Dog Food" selection. They also have a puppy food. Be sure to always have plenty of fresh water availablle. If the puppy balks at dry food, you can make a mush of it with a little warm water, each day adding a bit less so the pup will gradually get used to the texture.

Yes unless he's having trouble chewing it. Make sure you buy a high quality puppy specific kibble. Eukanuba and Hills science and royal canin are some good ones. If the pup isn't interested or is having trouble, you can try soaking it in some warm water to soften it up. Also makes it smellier so they'll like it more. You might consider supplementing him with some puppy milk. I don't know if you're in the states and I'm not familiar with the products used over there, but in Australia we like to use divetelact alot. It's a powder form and available from vets and some pet stores and you mix it with warm water and it kinda turns into milk. It actually smells really good too! I like to soak puppy kibble in divetelact to make it soft even though it's not strictly necessary and water will do. It also helps if it's warm rather than cold. If your pup is fine then you don't need to worry about it, although i do consider it nicer for the tiny things.

yes, pups can begin eating softened dry food as early as 4 wks of age. If it's a small breed dog you may have to still moisten the food with warm water for another week or so. My Shih-tzu pups were eating completely dry puppy food by the time they were 7 wks old.

I started to ween my pups from mother to food at 4 weeks. You start by taking a puppy formula and adding one part kibble to 3 parts water. This is called a gruel. Slowly add less water. My pups are now six and a half weeks and are eating plain puppy food no water added They have been eating puppy food dry no water since 5 and a half weeks. just make sure that it is a good puppy formula and always have clean fresh water available to them.

you cant just start feeding a puppy regular food you have to wean them i have been breeding for a few years now and what i do is about at the age of 5 weeks while there still feeding from there mom i get a little bit of dry puppy food and hammer it so it is like a powder and add some water then they get to like the taste you start to add less and less water and hammer it less and less for a few weeks until they eat the dry food normal then they should be weaned and not need mamas milk.

My brother's dog began to wean her pups at about two and a half weeks (she had no interest in feeding them) so they were eating dry puppy food as a suppliment at three weeks old.
They were fine but I'm no expert so you could consult a vet if you're worried.

Yes as long as the pieces are not too big and depending on the breed of dog- If your pup has a hard time chewing or swallowing then just add water about 10-min. before giving it to him/her and all will go fine!
