I'm a 20 year old guy, looking for some recommendations on a facial skin care regime. My confidence takes a hit when I don't think my skin is looking very clear, so I could do with some help.

--I have combination skin - it gets quite oily throughout the day (or over night), but after washing (or after swimming) it gets dry and flaky.
--The pores on my nose are quite large and I have trouble cleaning them. I often have to resort to trying to squeeze dirt from them, which leaves my skin very red, and is probably not good for it at all.
--I have pimples on my nose, forehead and chin/jawline which come and go - not severe, but noticable.

Currently I use a Clean&Clear cream wash for sensitive skin every morning and evening. I moisturise in the mornings using Clean&Clear Dual Action Moisturiser, but I think it is clogging my pores.

Can anyone recommend a better cleaning regime, and in particular, a way I can unclog the pores on my nose, and tighten them after?

Many thanks!

I don't think Proactiv is available here in the UK, any other suggestions, or more general comments?

if you dont mind getting a litttle metrosexual for the sake of clear skin here are my suggestions....

1. get a facial wash- almost any will work (its good if it has some salicylic acid) wash and rinse thoroughly

2. apply a clay mask and wait for it to harden then washs off (feel free to experiment with different brands and some specialize in oily skin of blackheads but i like clay because they absorb the oil)

3. get an exfoliating scrub and massage into face in a circular motion for 1-2 minutes then rinse

4. use a toner by putting some on a cotton ball then rubbnig on face

5 Finally a moisturizer! very important. Oil of olay makes a great one that is for combination skin.

Do #1,4,5 twice a day and 2 and 3 a couple times a week. keep a cleanser a moisturizer with you use immediately after swimming. drink tons of water, wash your pillow case often because oil from your hair and face get on it, use nose strips to get the blackheads (they hurt but hey, beauty is pain!), and avoid touching your face as much as possible because it just adds the oil from your hands.

I know it's a lot of work but if you can stick with it, you will see results. good luck

Oh man stay away from Clean and Clear, its one of the worse products out there. I should know cause I've tried almost every brand. After using it it still leaves your skin greasy huh?
You need to get a regular bar of soap like Lever 2000 or Neutregena's pore refining. Then you get Neutregenas astrigent(the blue one) use it before bed. For lotion use Jergens, it wont clog your pores-in the morning wash your face off.
Very simple, no?
Just fallow my recomendations and youll see for yourself :)
good luck!

I recommend using a line of products by DDF (Doctor's Dermatological Formulas). I personally use their products and love them. They have an acne line that is awesome. I love their Blemish Foaming Cleanser a must for everyday cleansing. Then use the pumice scrub once or twice a week this helps with the black heads. They have a lotion that is a matte formula so it keeps your face from looking oily but also keeps it from drying out. For spot treatments use benzoyl peroxide or sulfur. And of course drink lots of water, that is key to healthy skin. Good luck!

Try proactiv solution by Rodan & Fields.

Many dermatologists recommend this product--and the makers of this product are actual dermatologists.

I got mine in the mall at a kiosk in the middle of the mall walkway.

They have an 800 #, but I can't find it...So just go to proactiv.com.

Good luck!!

I could provide you samples of the men line that my husband uses and you would love it. His complexion is pretty much as yours, oily in the T zones with large pores, in only one week of been using the production I see a huge difference on his skin.

Let me know if this would be of your interested. magda_santiago@yahoo.com

go to a health store and look for a tea tree oil face wash and then find a good moisturizer for your pores like biore.

proactive work really well on quite a few of those skin problems and try asking a dermatologist so you dont make your skin any worser.

For acne, the best product I've ever used is clear.now

You can order it at www.jewel.mychoices.biz

For general skin care, my husband uses "Tolsom" products -- it's a mens skin care line and it makes his skin really smooth and nice :)
