they're not. they're taking the word of the tattoo artist that did it for them. they're probably running into the same problem that many did with the japanese character tattoos. It's not actually what they claim it to be. Do your research before getting tat'd, that's what I say.

Not all people with tattoos are that dumb to believe that the Egyptians had "tribal" anything. They are considered Hieroglyphics. and whoever it was was most likely just taking the word of their tattooist that it was a tribal. They are many, many people with tattoos that are extremely bright and caring.
Happy holidays and happy tattooing!!

I have a tattoo and never claim I am an anthropologist.
My tattoo as I have research over the net was a phoenix. Since I am living in the middle east people who seen it thought i am a patriot of this country as it looks like a falcon and similar to one of the goverment's logo (lols) plus the arabic inscription of my nickname.
I this case, I could claim that I fell inlove to this country (lols).

i don't know anyone with tattoos that thinks they are an anthropologist. i have tattoos and i see myself as an art collector. some people don't know what their tattoo means or believe whatever their tattoo artist tells them it means. i just love the art of my tattoos and they mean something to me, i don't care what they mean to other people.

I have a tattoo. I do not think I am an Anthropologist.
I do however, think that your question is poorly stated and has little merit.

Simple. They don't know any better. I don't think I have ever heard of Egyptian tribal. Shouldn't that be Hieroglyphics? Sheesh....
