really you should take her to the vet and explain to them or a local agency that deals with strays (in indiana we have pet refuge) a lot of times they will cover the cost of whatever may be wrong and spay her as well. plus get her caught up with her shots. good luck and thank you for being good to her. happy holidays=)

At least you took the cat in. I did this myself a few months ago and the cat I have taken on is now more a house cat than anything else. I have had her for 3 months. She does go out but everything seems to frighten her particularly the day the bin men come. She slithers under the quilt and hides and growls. I don't know why but I cuddle her. My cat is just getting fat. She is still eating unfortunately so I think you are right to take her to the vet and have her checked. Good Luck

I've seen these symptoms before. It's a parasite. The one I saw was a rare worm that they didn't find until they knew what to look for. I would do some research on the symptoms and find different things that cause them. Print them, take them with you to the vet so that they can see also.

Make sure she is hydrated and try to coax her into eating her regular amount. Try to keep her warm. To check her body temperature feel her nose and feet. If her nose is dry all the time, this means she needs to drink water.

Until you get to the vet, try to look up the symptoms, print, and take them with you. Again, if it is what I think it is her health will go up and down until something is done or it becomes fatal. IT MIGHT NOT BE so don't freak out yet! Wait until your vet to freak out! Right now your kitty needs you.

I have nothing but stray cats. Sometimes if a cat finally feels like it has a nice safe home to live in where it can trust the other animals, i.e. you, then it will realise it doesn't need to scarf food- there will always be some availible, and it can lose body fat- it will always be warm, and it can sleep more easily now as nothing will attack it like in the wild. It could be nothing, but a trip to the vet would be good just in case.

Awww that is really sweet that you decided to look after the poor mite. It may be a case of worms, or maybe the cat was stray cos its keeper's moved and it got lost in its new surroundings. Pining. Yes, this happens, it happened to a cat of mine.

Vet and Love is required

She sounds like she needs a 'health check' from the vet. good on you for taking her in. she obviously is having a great life now.She may have a kidney infection which can cause loss of weight. There are many things which could cause her weight loss and lethargy. She sounds like she is loved and happy tho!

It may just be as she/he is getting old, it may be too pain full for them to be the younger more active self, if female also look for changes in the size of her stomach as cats can often be like this when they are pregnant

dont worry i have a dog that has those same simptoms and its perfectly fine. Listen maybe you should take her to get a check up and tell them whats wrong but they'll say its fine and to take him to a dog talker you know those people tht understand whts going on in a dogs head or wht they'll say is that you dont play with it alot or you dont have anytime to hang out with her.
