SUCK it UP BOY! If you want to be a MARINE it is just what you have to do.
You are NOT in your cozy little bed withyour BMW and mommy and daddy taking care of you!
When I went to boot camp a guy was caught smoking in the head at 2 AM. The whole team was rousted and we stood at ATTENTION while he smoke a WHOLE pack with a 30 gal SH&* Can over his head. Another guy was caught "pleasuring himself" and we were all up an at attention again. punishment was to stand on the center board and FINISH in front of 60 guys. We were also told, "The first one of you that even looks like he is going to smile will be right next to him".
As a side note the two guys go an little "attitude adjustment" after the DI went back to his rack.
BUTCH UP BOY!
Your best bet is to file a Section 9 and get out; you just don't have it BOY! Go work as a clerk and live at home for the rest of your misreable life; WHAT A PUS^&Y!
You should be THANKFUL that I was NOT your DI because you would have been chasing me ALL NIGHT! Then I would have circled back and knocked you down with FORCE.
Just file the section and GO HOME! Your post disrespects ALL the men and women that CAN HACK it without WHINNING! You really are MISERABLE!
Unless you get it TOGETER you are LESS than RAT SH^&!
If you really want to be a MARINE, BE A MARINE BOY and just STOP PISSING ME OFF with your whinning.
You might also want to watch your back until you decide what you want to do because YOUR TEAM is PISSED at YOU for being a PU$$%Y!
If you are TOLD to shake it ONCE then shake it ONCE. If you are TOLD to eat grits and you are allergic, eat the grits and the MARINES will TAKE CARE of YOU!
SACRAFICE for the TEAM BOY and THE TEAM will take CARE of you BETTER than your mommy and daddy ever did! You might even gain a little self respect in the process and it FEELS GOOD.
NAM '65-66, Navy NCO, combat vet and HONORARY Marine Corps DI.
SUCK it UP and EXCELL if you can! Make them PROUD and be a MARINE BOY!

Do I feel for you! Not only have you chosen the most structural military career but the most depanding and maybe the most respected. Frankly...your drill instructor has done nothing wrong....morally, maybe, but the marine way "no". You are in basic training...the 1st worst part of training for the Marines...remember...they want a Few GOOD MEN! This is where the weak are seperated from the strong and the elite. Hope I didn't bust your bubble. When your drill sergent tells you NOT to do something...for God's sake DON'T DO IT! and if he tells you to do something you had better well DO IT! My husband was a drill sergent for the Army so I know what I'm saying. I have seen alot and heard alot but you are in the MARINES and that's even tougher. I feel for ya. Your sergent is trying to teach you discipline and respect and if he gives you an order you had better listen since later on it might just save your BUTT in being shot off! So listen to your Drill Sergent and obey his orders even if you don't like it..bite your tongue, grit your teeth, curse a few words to yourself and do the job because your drill instructor knows what he is doing. Remember he's been a Marine alot longer than you have and he has a reason for what he is doing. Why do you think he's the drill sergent and you are the trainee? So you can be the best of the best thats why!

I think when it comes to the Marine Corp, it's like this.
The Marine Corp giveth, and it taketh away.
They could be trying to instill in you an ability to focus on the task at hand. Whether it's shoving chow down ur neck or something like dismantling an explosive, look up from that.
In a combat situation, you have a right to nothing. Every breath is a gift, and a gift from the Corp. God put you in a garden, the Marines put you in combat. Before they did they put into you skills to adress any situation, one primary skill is an ability to follow instructions, and to focus.

Reach down between your legs, grab hold of what should be there, and remind yourself of why you joined the Corps. They do that to enstill discipline, which obviously didn't set in if you're posting this story on the internet. If you can't learn to look at nothing but your own plate, then I hate to see what happens when you have a sector of fire that you're supposed to be covering. Grow up. It's called Boot Camp for a reason. And you didn't even go through it when it was ACTUALLY Boot Camp.

I don't think throwing the food away, in and of itself, would teach you anything about being a good fighter. However, I'm guessing he didn't want to come up with something else on the spur of the moment, so when you broke the rule, he said the first thing that came to mind. The only thing you would have learned by that is that strict obedience to the rules is expected at all times, under all circumstances. It could save your life in a battle.
And the fruit fly story cracked me up!!! LOL!!!!!

He became in the rights as a DI. No. sure. one ingredient to keep in innovations: militia boot camp is like no longer some thing you have ever experienced. although, the rigid habitual and absolute administration over each ingredient of your life is countless circumstances worse than favourite militia duty -- on objective. this is the job of the Drill instructors (D.I.'s) to both regulate your innovations-set to a militia way of questioning (self-discipline, sacrifice, loyalty, obedience), or to drum you out before the militia spends too a lot money on your training. They do this by using utilizing major tiers of actual and psychological rigidity, at the same time as at the same time training you the basics of militia regulations; and the guidelines, etiquette, and customs of your particular militia provider. Sounds about precise.

Speaking as a fellow Marine, it makes you a better fighting man because maybe the next time you are given an order to keep your head down perhaps in combat, you won't do it your way and stick it up just to get it shot off. Duhhhhhhhh!!!!

Apperently you must have learned from your mistake because you're still alive. The reason that you DO NOT look around or even down is you must keep you eyes on your field of fire . If the enemy is watching you they can time you when you take your next bite of food. They can advance one or two soldiers every time you look down. They can even flank your position and dispose of you also.

I went through Army Basic at Ft Knox and it was the same way. the point was not to deprive you nurishment, which I'm sure you deserved, it was to teach you that there are consequences to your actions, you break a rule you are punished. In my experience if one messed up we were all done eating and if you had not yet gotten your food well too bad. this was to also teach us that if one in the team failed we all failed. You would be surprised at the subliminal lessons learned in Basic Training.
