Recently had a chest congestion cold with a bit of a scratchy throat -gargled with Brown Vinegar-the one that can be found at any health food store and grocery stores like Kroger,Publix in the Health food section, mainly to ease the scratchy throat and within less than a minute the congestion began breaking up somewhat. Repeated this several times a day esp in the AM or when congestion bothered me and within days was much, much better. Also Made a point to take my Vitamin/Mineral daily Supplement with extra Vit.C for Vit.C esp is known to boost the immune system.Since the straight vinegar is a bit strong can dilute with some water .But be careful NOT to Swallow since the Brown Vinegar destroys bacteria and is anti-Virus, your gargle will have the bacteria it killed in the throat. Can also dilute 1 to 2 teaspoons of the brown vinegar in 1 cup warm water-then add 1 tablespoon of Honey(honey will soothe a sore throat)and drink several times a day for the vinegar will destroy the virus/bacteria in your system and it and the honey are high in Potassium which aids in cleaning and renewing cells and boossts the immune system.

1) Drink lots of liquids, several glasses a day.
2) Boil water with a decongestant in it something like vicks vapor rub.Turn off the burner, then hold a cloth over the pot/pan and Put your head over the steam and breath as deep as you can. It is necessary to get the moist vapor as far down into your lungs and bronchial area as possible. Do this several times a day.
3) Take a hot bath or shower and breath the hot vapors while letting the hottest water that you can stand hit your chest front and back.
4) Search the Web for similar ideas. There are plenty.
5) It is absolutely essential that you expectorate the mucus as soon as possible. If it continues to accumulate, it can damage the lung and/or bronchial area. Maybe even pneumonia will set in .
