I need to know how to say that someone had an affair (as in cheated on someone) in French. I can't find it anywhere! The only translation I get for the "business" definition of the word.

Une Liaison in French
We talk about affair/affaire in business usually, or for job, school and stuff like that
You can also say that the guy, if it is a guy has a maitresse(french), and the woman has un amant(french too)
Il/elle a une liaison
Il a une maitresse
Elle a un amant

Il a eu une liaison avec....

Or "il a trompé …." or "il a été infidèle” if the cheating part is important.

well, there is really no word for "affair", more like the sense of a phrase, like ..

il a couché (slept) avec elle or
il a "triché" sur elle ...is "he cheated on her"

I would think... "liaison amoureuse" would get the point across.
